Just curious. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325042.phpBuckwheat vs Rice https://foodstruct.com/compare/buckwheat-vs-riceIronically, we cook a buckwheat kasha in the rice cooker! https://www.livestrong.com/article/4263 ... ce-cooker/I love the buckwheat sold at the Russian stores because it usually comes pre-toasted and is golden brown in color. If the buckwheat you buy is not toasted, you can quickly toast it on a dry skillet over medium heat 4-5 min until it is golden brown in color then remove from heat and proceed with the recipe. This soup is easy to cook and yummy! https://simple-veganista.com/mushroom-buckwheat-soup/

I do love buckwheat. Use my corona flour mill and make buckwheat pancakes. Didn't know it was not a grain, a superfood and stores well!! Thank you!

Patriot Supply has better food, non-GMO. I have purchased and eaten myself, good for storable food. Take advantage of specials.

I am going to add powdered eggs. This would probably be a good start before dehydrated foods. I would substitute coconut oil for the veggie oil but that's me. Probably need some organic spaghetti sauce and Parmesan cheese as a second round. Find some bags of these and other items at Costco. In addition, there are some good storable foods at Wal Mart in some grocery sections, e.g. powdered eggs and cheese in addition to dehydrated bananas.

Freeze dried meats in #10 cans are the backbone of my storage. No rotation and easy to reconstitute. I have the basics as well, they work together Here's a great place for all of that with fair shipping https://shop.honeyville.com/

You guys are lucky.......I can't eat the wheat products or those preserved with MSG. I have the mine shack stocked with about two weeks worth of food for me plus extras that other people can eat. The cabin just got upgraded to a 13 cubic foot freezer that left just enough room for the canned food locker to fit on top. I could last a month up there. I do not keep that much here because I have other places to go so I just purchase a bit more then a weeks worth at a time. I usually eat the same dinner for a week then change out to something else.

Special Potted Meat Product my only hope? Protein is always a concern, but why zero carbs? SPAM, tuna fish, Vienna sausages, sardines, anchovies, smoked oysters, canned salmon, chicken, beef...the list goes on and on. We have a bunch of canned meat that's excellent after 10 years. In my write-up earlier this summer I mentioned the 2008-2010 Viennas and sardines tasted like they were brand new. You can go into Grocery Outlet with $100 and get a pile of canned meats and fish. Do that every three months or so and soon you'll have tens of thousands of calories stacked up.

I have a mix of all kinds of protein, fats (ok wife doesn't like canned bacon) to a large variety of carbs from sugary to complex and even canned bread and crackers. Canned dried pineapple has been disappointing. OK that was random.

Also keep in mind, generally speaking, if SHTF, when things get settled, if you survive, you're probably gonna be working sun up to sun down. You're gonna be burning a shit ton more calories than you normally do. Low carb won't be the best in that situation.
