Me and my neighbors don't need ANYONES help. One of my neighbors lives pretty well off grid. I dug him a pretty productive well. Most of us have a few freezers full of meat and tons of dry and canned goods. Our road in the woods is a decent force to be reckoned with.

I tried the https://nextdoor.com/about_us/ to get people in the area to network. Only one person responded. I don't need to have a weekly BBQ, but I believe we should come together as a group in an emergency would be beneficial. So if anything ever happens, and they want help? They can all get screwed.

As the saying goes... You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink it.
Often times people are like “ostriches” with their heads buried in the sand. It’s better to avoid the issue and hope for the best and let someone else fix it.
No one wants to think about it, pay for it or even talk about it. It’s not a socially accepted thing to do.
So the discussion is about facing those and confronting the simple fact - these people will be the ones truly desperate enough to turn violent - faster. Especially if they know you have stocks of goods.

So, then, generator use... yummy smells coming from your BBQ... a healthy clean appearance will be detriments in longer term crisis.
Wearing dirty clothes, looking hungry and cooking/cleaning surreptitiously would be good strategy. Empty pantries and cupboards (alternative food storage) is a good idea too.

In my A.O. one guy has a windmill driven well pump, he's the water guy. Another has the chicken farm, another cattle, another a few horses. Everyone has at least one firearm and a garden. And me? I'm the crazy old Vet who'll kill you if you become a threat. I earned that rep when the druggies moved in. They soon realized I was the one guy not to fuck with, and no matter what they told the cops, the other neighbors backed me up. They left within a few weeks and the drug house was burned down by the county F.D. for training.

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

Neighbors are just people storing extra supplies for me for a disaster. They just don’t know it yet.

Who else is planning on raiding the neighbors? Will you wait until they vacate or will this take place regardless of occupancy?
