I keep 10gallons +/- a few gallons. Nothing special...just gas straight from the pump. Works fine in the riding lawn mower and has started up every spring with no issues. I just use one can for filling it up till it is empty. I do take one (or both) off-roading with me as a just in case sort of thing. never know when a half day turns into a full day adventure. When Im done Ill fill up with the can and then fill it up with fresh stuff.

Gas stores well and if you use non ethanol gas (that costs well north of $4 a gallon) and stores even longer if you use Stabile.

Non ethanol fuel has 10-15 percent MORE gas in each gallon. So the price increase isn't as bad as you think. It should be at least 10-15 percent higher in price.

Better mileage to, 10-15 percent more. :wink05:

For my generator I added a propane conversion so it’s now dual fuel. Propane doesn’t go bad like gas so several 5 & 10 gallon tanks stored behind my shed will last for quite a while and still be portable if necessary.

Yes, I store 20 gallons in 5 gallon cans. I cycle them from left to right. The left can gets used first, when it is empty I slide them all over and put the new full one on the right. A good rule of thumb is to only put ethanol free in gas cans. If you own anything that gets filled off cans or does not get driven much, ethanol free will give you less problems. If you don't have lawnmowers, chainsaws or quads that allow you to cycle through all 20 gallons in a year, set a reminder to fill your car with them once a year and restock with fresh gas. Once it becomes habit, you won't really have to thing about it. Also always keep your car about a half a tank, this is also a good habit so you will never be stranded. Ethanol free can be found at the airport or some reservations or casinos.

Exact same thing for me as well. I go bottom to top though. 20 gallons in 5 gallon cans. I use it for all of the yard stuff plus I have a generator. Power goes out a few times a year. I also use Ethanol free. I'm lucky though as one of the stores carries it out here. It's not even inconvenient to buy.

Lol. Hardcore is a permitted 500gal in-ground tank when you don't have a business purpose for it.

My plan is to just tap into a gas pipeline and use some 5 gallon buckets, like they do in Mexico. :peep: :blackcloud1: :angryfire:

Metal cans will rust so place them carefully. I spray on bed liner to the bottom - helps combat rust.

That is rusting on the outside.

I always seem to crack the plastic ones so will stick with metal.

Fixed it for you. 500 gallons is the snowflake size. 5000 gallons is the MAGA Texas size.

Danged if my cans didn't rust through the sides. The two with diesel didn't rust but the ones with gasoline did.

Strange since I have an old style Jerry can that was my dad- it's gotta be 50 years old but no problems.

Got 4 of those 20L ones but they rusted in 2 years - I blame crappy Chinese materials and processes.

Looks like I'm going to plastic now.
