How long is this bugout bag meant to last? 24 hours? 3 days? 7 days?

This little set works great together.

It will be for a supplement and a base with a 5 year shelf life . I will have some other things that I will change yearly with the water

That's how I decided to finally treat mine. I keep a 2400 calorie lifeboat ration in my bag as a base as it is filling, tasty, (I eat the damned things as snacks sometimes) and doesn't dehydrate. I supplement that with some MRE cheese and bacon spread (also crack like) and some MRE peanut butter and wheat snack bread. The goal is about a 36 hour food supply, so I've got a few other snacks/other shit thrown in, but the base is the lifeboat ration, and the MRE bits.

The water kit above is good. Gives you a means to cook and filter water.

For food I would recommend the Met-RX bars. They're huge, filling and have a lot of protein (yes, that is what she said as well).
Can't go wrong with Mountain house packets either.

Here's a good BOB:
http://graywolfsurvival.com/66545/how-t ... d-bug-bag/

One of the best BOB lists I'v seen. The whole thing is supposed to weigh only 25 pounds. I'm going to try and replicate it the best I can with the equipment I already have. It should be an interesting experiment.

bug repellent and sun block should be in there.
a well cooked human that has perspiration for seasoning will attract vampire skeeto's and flies, think about three days without a trip thru the rain locker.

Here what is in my Vertx EDC Transit Sling, although I don't carry all that stuff every day.

...and more, depends on the situation...

The heaviest total load, including bag with two ballistic panels and G19 with one spare, is 10.22 lbs.
No panels, no guns - 5.25 lbs.

Yep, that’s the Vertx logo.

They, & Camelbak, seem to be the best these days with a Concealed Carry Compartment.
