I for one am not all in on this but I will always keep what i feel is enough to keep my family alive and relatively safe for a few weeks.
So without going into specific details, what is your level of preparation? Are you planning for a total government and services shut down or just bad weather in the area?

I am hit n miss. I have at least 3 days of supplies for a family of 4, but could stretch that to a couple of weeks. Fresh water isn't a problem as long as the aquifer isn't damaged.

Overall not a prepper... but after the Japan quake we spent some time getting some tubs of food and water stashed for those few weeks it may take to get services restored. If it gets so bad, I have a family location to travel too, I would just have to learn to eat clams and fish... that is if the Elk is already gone....

This doesn't need to be "rocket science." You don't need high tech. It's called good camping gear. -shelter (tent) -warmth (heat and sleeping bags) -camp food (cans or whatever) -lights If you need more suggestions... we live in an earthquake zone and we're overdue. Local 3ways... 3 days... http://makeitthrough.org/If you want to take it to the next step... Build a "kit" for your car, work... Include communication (radio) It has been recommended to have at least 3 days of food and water... realistically in any major disaster you'll need at least 2 weeks or more. If you have a BBQ you have a means of cooking. Just have a spare full tank... or extra charcoal.

We try to keep a few weeks of food, tolietries & water on hand for atleast 7 people at all times. My wife owns & operates a daycare, so if SHTF at somepoint who knows if their parents would be able to come and get them right away. We could have many more mouths to feed than the normal person.
Never hurts to be prepared.

I had to kinda laugh a bit at those who were caught totally unprepared for that last ice storm. We did the indoor camping thing so I feel pretty confident in going a couple weeks on what we have typically on hand. As far as the S getting really deep, I figure I have at least 98% of my neighbors out gunned. That should give me a pretty good head start. Kinda like hunting. You don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to run faster than the fat guy you chose as your buddy.

I do not consider myself as a full blown work to prep kind of guy. we have enough sleeping bags and tents and gear for camping as we, do camp every year as a family. I have a few day supply of food I have smoked salmon and trout to last a few days also.
during the last Ice storm I bought a generator. to give us some of of the Pleasures of not having power as in TV Radio heaters and a freezer to keep the food frozen.
I have cows and goats around me also if it gets too bad I know where I can do some urban hunting.
I started growing HyrdoPonics recently not because of Prepping but I wanted fresh veggies and I needed something else to keep me out of trouble with the wife.
and I always have a full bottle of Propane for grilling.

With a baby on the way and only one income my preps are drying up or being sold. I'm actually down to 1 gun with about 200 rounds of ammo. Shit is tight right now.

Never hurts to be prepared. This is why my girls are in this daycare. Plus we like your wife
