So lessons learned.
What did you run out of during the latest round of snow?

Apparently I'm the the only resident of Snohomish County that knows how to drive in the snow.

Snow shovels. Always had 1. Now, the boys are big enough to run one. If I get another, I can supervise.

Time (or at least sunlight). I'd really rather be playing in the yard with the dog instead of working.

Yeah, my lack of a snow shovel - or any halfway useful shovel - is biting me in the ass right now. Good thing I have friendly neighbors! I'm in good shape on everything else. The real test would be if we lost power. I always think I'm fully prepared, but there's always something I didn't think of, or plan for.

Rubbing alcohol works well as a de-icer on small areas. It's also more pet-paw-friendly than salt and chemical de-icers.

I got plenty of shovels, scrapers, and even a digging bar. But not enough core strength. Need to work on that..........
Shit, power sag, off on spike, 123V now sine wave looks ok 60 Hz, normally we run close to 126V must be supporting another grid

This non-prepper didn't run out of anything yet, and all is well. However, I know that I'm on the ragged edge in a few ways: - I don't have a snow shovel. For this storm, I don't really care, as I'm happy to just drive over the snow in my driveway. I also know that I could break out the garden spade if needed. But . . . yeah, having a snow shovel would be a good idea. - I have a job where I can sometimes work from home if needed; it depends on what's happening that day, and if I have in-person meetings. Last Monday and Tuesday and today I worked from home, so that takes a lot of the pressure off. I'll likely be working from home again tomorrow. But if I needed to drive . . . do I have chains? I'm not sure, honestly. - Speaking of being unsure, I'm unsure if I have a windshield scraper in the car. It doesn't matter when I'm at home because I park in a garage, so I get complacent about it. But if I drive to work or somewhere else, it could be an issue. - Power at home . . . yeah, I worry about losing it. I don't have a generator. I do have gas hot water and a gas living room fireplace, so I'll still have hot water, a gas stove top, and SOME heat in the house but not much. I can deal with roughing it for a while, but others ( *cough* girlfriend *cough*) can be less tolerant. With your typical windstorm, we have the option to drive to a friend's house or a motel, or across the state if need be, but when you're snowed in then those options start to decrease. So yup, all good here but I know I'm just one bad stroke of luck away from having issues.
