Never done this before. What a rip-off. And especially angering when I've read about waste and political squandering of WDFW funds.

You want to hunt elk with that it’s about 80. Or you can pay the out of state license fees for Montana or Wyoming, they’ll run you anywhere from 600 for deer or 1000 for elk if you are lucky enough to draw an out of state tag.

Idaho is over the counter. Figure $1100 or so for deer and elk.

Well, you see, according to the WDFW the number of licensed hunters goes down each year. That leaves a shortfall in revenue, so they raise the price of tags. Then the next year they say "Gee, less hunters are buying tags. I wonder why? Guess we'll just have to jack up the tag fees again." This conversation is repeated annually, along with the ever popular shorter seasons, and less public land area to hunt. I just can't figure it out, how come less are hunting in Washington? Same reasons everything else around here is fouled up - WA. gov. Don't get me started on the fishing regs and fees

With all the public land to hunt in the state, 45 dollars cheap as hell. We are spoiled brats up here when it comes to public land. You have no idea how good we have it. I grew up in Texas. 2nd least amount of public land in America. Two fucking places to hunt. Opening day looks like opening day of salmon season on river road. Wanna hunt private, how about 1500 a gun. Minimum. Spent a lot of time in Alabama with my grandparents, gotta be on a deer lease if you actually want to shoot anything worth bringing home. They do have some public land, a little better than Texas. We have it made. You probably wasted 45 bucks on something dumb this month.

I think the real bitch is that WA's government is just shitty most of the way around. Is our money (taxes and fees/licenses) being spent wisely? hah

Nevada elk tags are all draw and you can’t draw again after a kill for a few years. My coworkers that live in NV are always surprised when I tell them we just get them at the grocery store.

You got off cheep. I was broke this year so I did not put in for any special draws but I still payed more then double that for my archery deer and elk and the the bear and cougar tags. I have had multi season deer and elk in the same year......damn I was tired that year.

I know two archery shooters that can shoot a target expertly in their backyard, they told me of their exploits afield. What they said appalled me!!! The last two seasons they shot at 7 legal bulls (3 point or better) and found blood on 5 shots but failed to find the carcass!!!!

Then they did not put the shots on the elk they thought they did or are too lazy to put the time in tracking and need to stop shooting at more elk. Buck fever can hit anyone, so shots are not always were we want them to hit. When you find blood it is your job as an ethical hunter to continue looking until you are certain the shot was non lethal. Elk are hardy animals and even hit well can cover some ground before they drop, we owe it to them as hunters to continue looking and put them out of misery and not let them wander off suffering and going to waste. Sorry that just hits a sore spot with me, some of us are not lucky enough to get into bow range at all and take a shot, so hearing people shot 7, hit 5 without recovery is beyond frustrating.
