Hey everyone. I just moved to Washington with my family a couple of months ago after living abroad for many years.
I decided once I came back to the US I'd pick up a new hobby - and as you might guess from this post being on this website - it's firearms.
I bought myself a few handguns, a few rifles, and a shotgun to shoot skeet. I've been studying and practicing with my new collection and so far, so good.
If there are any other enthusiasts nearby interested in meeting up at a range or for coffee (or even better, helping me with technique) I'm very open to that. Send a private message here on the platform.
As I wrote in the title I think there's almost no chance someone is reading this on Mercer Island, but maybe someone else is nearby in Bellevue or Renton!

Can you tell us what took you abroad for so long? You've got some nice guns there! The shotgun looks broken, but otherwise I like the collection. How much skeet shooting have you done, if any? Where have you gone?

I know a couple guys on Poverty Rock. Whether they'll admit it or not is iffy. You're close enough to the real world that you won't have any trouble bumping into plenty of us. You're only probably 10 mnutes away from West Coast Armory and about half an hour from Renton Fish and Game's range.
Welcome.
BTW, nice bunch of weapons.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Sorry for the delay in writing back.
@usrifle I shot trap and skeet but way back in 2006 or so, a guy used to take me out to a club near Chicago when I lived there. But since then I haven't shot as it wasn't possible abroad, so I'm looking for a good club that's not too far from home.
@Guntrader Very cool, it does seem like an idyllic place to grow up - we have a 9 month old and will bring up our kids here.

Be careful the folks on MI are pretty gossipy and and anti 2a. Friend witnessed a family got excommunicated from neighborhood play dates because the dad has a locked gun in his car for remote work in the boonies.
It's too small of a community. Being ostracized would be bad on the island.

Yeah, I don't care what they think about me, but I would feel quite upset if my hobby affected my children. I have already met some of the anti 2a people here...don't want to argue with them, its pointless.

Maybe you should put something distantly associated to being 2a friendly on your backpack or car to feel out people in your community. I feel like wearing something like a 9/11 commemorative hat or shirt is inconspicuous and vague enough to be uncontroversial but helps identify other potential "good guys". How well do mercer island people react to your occupation/industry? Lol

Yes! I am a MI gun owner! I know several other MI people who do shoot but they are either out of state or busy... However, let's shoot sometime when we're both free!
