Has anyone experimented with the 110/125gr projectiles in a 30-06? I'm mulling around the idea of trying a few high speed loads for my bolt action just for fun. And yes I understand that the twist rate in most 30-06's isn't ideal for this grain weight but still.

Actually loaded up a boat load for a buddy years ago so his wife could shoot out in the woods without bruising her shoulder. I don't remember what powder or how many grains, almost positive it was 110 or lower bullets. But extremely light loaded, just at or lower than 2k fps. Accurate as hell. They were shooting at 100 and 200 yards, he using factory ammo on his and she's using my reloads on hers and just destroyed his ass at accuracy all the way to 200 yards.

Interesting on the light loads and being accurate. I thought you would have needed to push them near max to get the spin on them.

I have and shot many 110gr bullets in a 30-06....Never found a load that I considered accurate enough. Bullets in the 125gr range shot much better....

The 125gr bullets shooting better should be a given and I think I'll try a few. Below is the list of the different bullets I thought might be worth trying. But I'm currently leaning towards the Hornady Vmax in 110gr and the speer TNT 125gr bullets to start with.
-Hornady #: 23010 V-MAX Bullets 110 Grain Flat Base BC- 0.290 -Nosler #:34057 Varmageddon 110 Grain Tipped Flat Base BC- 0.293 -Barnes #: 30362 (TTSX) 110 Grain Flat Base BC- 0.295 -Hornady #:3010 110 Grain Spire Point BC- 0.256 -Nosler #: 59380 E-Tip 110 Grain Spitzer Boat TailBC- 0.245 -Sierra #: 2110 Varminter 110 Grain Hollow Point BC- 0.144 -Speer #: 1986 TNT Varmint Bullets 125 Grain JHP BC- 0.326 -Nosler #: 30125 Ballistic Tip Hunting Bullets Spitzer Boat Tail BC- 0.366
When my powder valley order shows up I'll have h4895, imr4198, imr4831 and Trail Boss to work with if. But I'm thinking I'll start with the Trail Boss and H4895 powders.

I've had sub moa accuracy with Nosler 125gr ballistic tip and 40.5gr of h4895 from a Ruger m77. Fun to shoot and would do well on medium sized game.

Yep I loaded 125 grain Herters and had good results except I was fighting the point of impact because I was also shooting 180 grainers. I gave up on the 125s and 180s and started hard casting so my costs are so low I have no incentive to use 125 grain bullets. I now just choose between my hardcasts, spitzers or boat tails all of 160 grains.
