For prepping and in modern times.

Most people don’t have enough food to last 3-5 days.
Never have killed for their food. Enjoy eating meat?
You have to harvest to eat it Clean it and prepare it.

Went fishing today at a stocked pond and one of the fathers in his mid 30’s didn’t know how to unhook a fish. Didn’t want to touch it and definitely wasn’t going to eat it.

It’s the signs of the times. A generation of modern idiots raising the next generation of super idiots. Dissociated from reality and even more entitled to the good side of life.

Problem is... like a computer - it’s great when it’s working smoothly but hell if it has a glitch or shuts down.

We live complicated and complex modern lives but take away our electricity, phones, electronics and all the modern conveniences - mega stores with fresh foods and even canned foods and it’s going to be bad.

I have to admit I enjoy all the modern niceties of life and I am fully aware how it will suck but I have taken steps.

Have you?

If you ask why prep.
It’s like why own and/or carry a firearm? Because I am ultimately responsible for me and my family. It’s my right and duty.

If you say... well the government will come rescue you. It’s like saying the police will be there in 15-30 min. Even 5 min can be too late.

You must be paranoid - fear.
I say it’s a simple fact of life - we live in an earthquake, volcano, and ever changing world - both natural and manmade disasters. Simply losing clean water can be disastrous. Have you lost electricity for more than 3 days? Just imagine a month or longer.

Please don’t be behind the curve rushing to Safeway to empty shelves is not the time to realize it’s too late.

I grew up in Siberian village, in Taiga.
Trapping, fishing, picking mushrooms and berries, harvesting cedar nuts, growing veggies, etc.
Have a long gun and a sidearm for each of my family member, as well as medical, sanitary and food supplies - enough to survive three months.
Keep my fingers crossed for no need of all of this.

Country people will have the best chance. City people? Good luck, suburbs? maybe, with a good group of like minded people. Think Platoon size for 24 hr security and still 50/50 at best.
How many of us actually have a defensible home or position? Realistically, not many.
Yeah, i have food, 10,000 gallons of Water (Backyard Pool) and Plenty of ammo and firepower. That works until they burn you out in a total SHTF situation.
If the Feds are the SHTF situation? All bets on odds are off.

Yup, most folks will perish within the first weeks. Then it will get very ugly.

If anything happens, I will hang out and wait for all my idiot neighbors to "head to the mountains". Once the go, time to shop.
