Well, it looks like 976 is passing.
So folks, it's time for a poll.

I can hear the state legislators yelling from my house. We are about to go into the next legislative secession and I’m betting they are going to vote in new taxes to make up for the tabs we want to keep at $30. They raised taxes last year when we had a surplus in the budget.

Let the punishment begin.

How dare those lowly subjects interfere in our medaling!!!!!

You all do remember the first time Eyman drafted the $30 tab initiative years ago?
How long TPTB fought it in court and all the spite they could muster to dispel it?

“Eyman's $30 car tab initiative first passed 20 years ago. It was struck down in court before being enacted by lawmakers. The fees have crept up in recent years as lawmakers allowed them and voters approved them.”

Watch for this to happen again with Sound Transit pissin and moaning the loudest with the most $$$$ to loose....

Someone posted this over on Reddit, and it pretty much sums up my feelings

Seattle hypocrisy

Just want to take a second to vent about the fact that the people that shoved 1639 down our throats are the same people now bemoaning 967 for being a multi-part ballot measure that's needs struck down in court for being invalid.

Fuckers.

If they try to throw out 976 for "multi subject" then 1639 and 1491 need to go. So does 594.

Those counties that voted no should be kicked out of the state and be labeled as protectorates to be governed by us.

There will be a Lic plate paint tinting fee, a Lic plate stamped letter removal fee, a lic plate bolt hole fee etc to supplement the current lic plate reflectivity fee.

They will you let you guys off with 30 dollar tabs, but my dump truck tonnage is going to GO UP.

Be assured they will just rearrange the numbers, not SUBTRACT any.

Another nail in the coffin for "pay by mile" also.

This is kind of a side bar question but here goes....
Why do we need vehicle license plate tabs (stickers) anyway?
AFAIK there isn't a LE department in the state that does not have instant access to vehicle status (registration, insurance, etc.) thru onboard computer systems. Several states have done away with the stickers, whilst registration fees didn't really drop, money was put to use elsewhere. ( probably fancy furniture for the dmv bigwigs)
And does anyone know why we need renewal each and every year? Two years works in other places,
Just askin….

It's cheaper to pay cops to look at the colors of the month and year tabs than to equip every patrol car with license plate readers.

I'd be fine with every two years.

So they can raise taxes every year instead of every 2 years.
