It’s also tough on plastics so that could part of it.
You’ll need a solvent rated bottle. One that is meant for shit like WD40.
I use the shit out of WD-40!

I'm about to get thrown out of waguns, here goes: WD-40 sucks for most everything people spray it on!
Yeah, I said it!
99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle for displacing water Graphite powder for locks. Tri-flow for bicycle (and bike) chains, fan/motor bearings, goes on wet, evaporates leaving a PTFE film CLP for general purpose household wet lube and guns White lithium for trailer balls and heavy-duty sliders Coconut oil for lubing up your... frying pan...
Try them out, you'll never go back to WD-40, I promise. Mayyybe if you need to unstick a frozen bolt (but I'm pretty sure there's something better for that, too).
Of course, if you have a Garand, John himself will rise from the grave to strangle you with his zombified hands if you use anything other than the little yellow grease pot to lube it.

The beauty of WaGuns.... we all have assholes and of course opinions too. Lol
We share, tell our story and folks read them and decide for themselves.
Got to love differing perspectives.
For lazy, just simple folks... WD-40 for the win!
For the complicated, delicate and very thoughtful folks. Well there’s a ton of shit to choose from and may I add cost more to boot.
I do have quite a collection of other stuff too but overall KISS method... but to each their own.
Find what works for you and use it.

I used to use it for cleaning spark plug wires on my street rods. I didn’t use it for much of anything else. There are a lot of better products than WD-40 for just about everything.
I’m curious what PMB uses it on.

I have a spray bottle of WD that I use or starting/priming dry diesels. Much more friendly than starting fluid/ether.
I really don't like it much anything else. It does seem to lube up a rusted surface, but it seems like it almost causes more rust afterwards?
Mostly I use it to clean things and only since I got a free gallon of it at a yard sale a couple years ago.

I heard tell that it makes super-bait smell even super-er.

Did it change only in that clear colored bottle?
I havent had that happen but i only pour it into the "wd40 spray bottle" (same one you have).
Im like you though....I use the stuff quite often even though i might have "better" products on the shelf already.
Buying it in bulk is the way to go though. Even better when with brake cleaner....especially in a sure shot sprayer

Is the wd-40 cold? I know it gels when cold and might cause separation of the misc ingredients.

I use WD-40 as a "solvent". After I clean and scrub with real cleaners I hose parts off with WD-40. Blast all the nooks and crannies. Wipe and cleanliness check. Then I lubricate and preserve with the correct products.

I obviously don't hate WD-40. I buy it.
