Greetings all, my name is Andrew and I live in Spokane. Here is a quick introduction that summarizes my firearms experience/interest and explains how I got here, it's a little weird.

Born and raised in Maryland, son of Korean immigrants that owned a liquor store in the wrong part of Baltimore City. I spent most of my adolescent years working there and it was my first exposure to guns. Enlisted Marine for ~8 years, x2 combat deployments to Iraq and x1 to Afghanistan. Got out of the Marines, got a degree, enlisted into the Army National Guard because I was bored and they would help pay for grad school. My infantry battalion was activated for the Baltimore City/Freddie Gray/BLM riots and I got the surreal experience of patrolling a burning major American City with an assault rifle and live ammo. Finished my doctorate, got out of the Guard, postdoc residency in Oregon brought me to the PNW and I took a job here in Spokane last November.

Have been getting settled over the last year and now looking into getting a concealed carry permit. The People's Republic of Maryland is a shall issue state, its nearly impossible to get one there so I'm excited it is a realistic option here. My brother lives in Virginia and I was just talking to him tonight about his current 2A fight when I saw on the local news that the WA governor and AG are proposing an assault weapons/high cap mag ban. I lived through Maryland's assault weapons ban in 2013 and was involved in the fight there, decided to find a local forum to see what was going on. Google and a bout of insomnia brought me here. In 2012 our petitions and marches at the Maryland state capitol were completely ineffective and panic buying got insane, I am really hoping not to go through that again. Looking forward to learning about WA and the gun community here. Brought an AR and handgun with me from Maryland, need to find a local range because I haven't shot them since living here. Rest of my guns are scattered among family back east.

Here in WA, we are also a "shall issue", but here that means that they HAVE TO give it to you unless you are not legally allowed to have one (felon, DV, typical no-no gun stuffs).
