The Navy gets a new Destroyer. Mo' better than the Zumwalt some will say.

Read about the ships namesake here. MoH Awardee from the Battle of Iwo Jima. He jumped on two hand grenades at the age of 17....and lived!

Depends upon better sailors charged with collision detection and avoidance.

Well... maybe if they had better meteorological reports by which to navigate... :wink05:

Or sailors that know how to read a meteorological report and act upon same. It all boils down to having folks aboard who have some smarts. All the data/information in the world is worthless if you don't have folks who know how to understand and apply same.

The meteorologist job is to observe and brief, then hit the smoke deck for as long as possible.

Two new subs too, and will be named Arizona and Oklahoma in honor of the PH ships destroyed by the sneak attack.

The last instances of destroyers being hit by cargo ships seemed to be:
Inadequate training
Dependence on electronics rather than seamanship
Incompetence all around.
General asshatery

MilleniALS probably are represented in the officer ranks, but most seaman are more likely Gen Z
