Hey,
I spent most of my elementary years in Seattle before moving to commiefornia. I'm finally back and now getting some time off from work and in search of some BLM land to go shooting. I'm a professional firearms instructor (Surefire Institute, Firearms Training Associates) and using a 25 foot indoor range doesn't cut it. With the lovely COVID-19 I haven't been heading down to teach so I am looking to get some time in with some steel at some distance.

If anyone has any locations in and around Tacoma, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also would be nice to meet some fellow shooters, at 6+ feet distance or so for now.. :)

There are not too many places around Tacoma. You need to head way north, way east, or south to Olympia to find some forest that's safe for recreational shooting.

Tacoma Rifle and Revolver club has some longer distance ranges.

Welcome back!

Not too many choices right now.
What do you use EDC? Or use in “class”

Howdy neighbor

Just head over to Hilltop
Spoiler: show
Just kidding, don't do that

I usually go down to Capitol Forest. It's an hours drive but you can set up whatever you want. I have a variety of steel targets

I'd say we should head down there sometime but they just closed it

@madpick - I teach everything from “basic recreational handgun” i.e how not to shoot yourself with safe proper gun handling to advanced pistol low light training. Basic to advanced shotgun as well as various levels of rifle training.

@oldkim My EDC? You want to know what I carry? Varies but I carry everything from a Shield, G19, G17, G20, G21 but my baby is a M&P 2.0 with an Apex Trigger and Ameriglo night sights.

When I teach, it’s based on the class but usually one of my G21s ....

All of these are theoretical of course because I’m anti gun... lol

TRRC is a very nice facility (I am a member there) but does not allow rapid fire or drawing from the holster which is what it sounds like the OP wants. They do have a pistol range that goes to 50 yards and the main range goes to 200 which you can also shoot pistols on.

Welcome back to WA!!

You need action bays for that.
