Highly recommended. However, they used to require an on site in person safety check before your first match, I'd check with the match director first for current process.

I bought a pistol so I could conceal and drive to other states without paperwork.
I'm fine if I 'lose' every single event I participate in due to disqualification. I'm not interested in competing with others. I want to improve my own skills. So if I can still participate even though I'll never have a chance to 'win' I would be very happy.

If you DQ you cannot shoot. What you want is to shoot "not for score". Ask your local match director for options. If allowed, you may want to download practiscore to your phone so you can keep/analyze your stats yourself. This may also tip the MD decision in your favor, one less headache for him.

To me it seems reasonable to join the other 9mm AR platform guns with numbers scratched on them. But what do I know. It doesn't seem reasonable to join pistol shooters, though. However, I am not an engineer.
Well hopefully I will be able to have use of the range and the setups. Thanks for the info.

yep, 9mm ar-pattern carbine is a pistol caliber carbine (pcc), which shoots the same courses as pistols, but is scored only against all other PCC shooters. Check with your match director about your PCC details.

I have been wanting to try this for years. Is there a time a newbee can practice on the course before competition days? Is membership at range required? One last thing, who at the range should I speak to about this? TIA
