Had a great weekend. Was up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area spending time with family. Saturday hanging out with the grandkids and also coaching my step daughter and her husband on pistol skills. They got to try out different guns in my collection from a 357 revolver and various 9mm pistols including an FN509, Walther PPQ, and Glock 45. Focused first on small group shooting & accuracy gradually transitioning to higher speed shooting for acceptable combat accuracy (trade off of speed vs accuracy).
Sunday we all went to the Texas Motor Speedway for NASCAR. Got the grandkids souvenirs and they all got to see professional stock car racing for the first time ever. We saw tail end of the truck series race which was pretty cool. Then the change out to the cup series stock car race. Nice anthem rendition and a flyover by a flight of four F-15 Eagles kicked off the festivities. Unfortunately the cup series race only ran around 50 laps before being called off due to rain but they still got a pretty good experience. Holy smokes it was way louder than I remember as I haven't been to a NASCAR race in almost 20 years now. Unbelievable volume of engine noise, TV doesn't really convey the true noise level. There's an open wheel Indy race in the Spring so we'll probably go back for that also.
