Nicely done! What products did you use to fill the grain and finish it?

Sanding with steel wool between coats and it smoothed out really quick. Then just kept putting on more coats, the grain really started showing it's detail and the keeps looking better with every additional coat I put on it. I probably have 10 coat's of tru-oil on it right now. I stained the wood with the Rit Fabric die mixed with alcohol. Dark brown mixed with some red.

Well done Jordan!!! You should be proud of that! You've always liked the shinny wood and now you have some of your own!

Thanks for the positive feedback everybody. It has me tempted to buff it down again to try to get a finish coat on it.

Outstanding work! Seriously, that is really cool! I love how you beveled the left front side of the cutout almost mimicking a thumbhole stock cutout.
Great idea and really nice follow though! I may need to get a stainless 10/22 now.
