Lately I've been using the swager WITHOUT the rubber band mod on it, so it's in full-manual mode. I can eject the brass pretty well by just flipping that little tab that sticks out, and the brass will fly off into the box. It's not as consistent as that guy's spring mod, though; that dude was shooting about 0.5MOA with those cases.

Moving Violation was gracious enough to loan me his 600 a while back and I set it up like the guy in the video. Once you get the hang of it you can really crank em out.

There are only "different ways", not "better ways" (unless you own a Dillon 1050 that will swage while reloading).

I've seen more "effed up brass" when people try to ream the crimps out.


As for berdan brass? Just use a Lee universal de-priming die on all brass that you are processing for the first time. When it hits the end of a berdan primed case the de-priming rod is just pushed up and the pin doesn't break like it does on Redding, Hornady, RCBS, Forster ----- Did I leave any out?

Once you've processed the brass once you can put both the universal depriming die and the Super Swage away until you've scrounged more .223/5.56mm brass. I love that stuff. People at our club range don't want to bother with it so this last week alone I picked up another 300 pieces of LC brass with factory crimps still in place. Nice because I know I'm not just getting brass that's been shot well beyond it's life and tossed in the bin. Crimps are "insurance" that it's all once fired.

the superswage does the job really well... had one that I've since sold. I still have the cheaper rcbs version for backup.. its not as fancy but does the trick...

only thing to beat it is a dillon 1050..

one thing I did with the super swage that is not a must but helps, is I got some epoxy putty and using a thin plastic as a liner so it doest stick, I molded it into the area where the casing rests (using a case as a mold) so that the casing is in the exact same position every time. the putty can then be removed if I use a different caliber and swapped out...

it helps keep the casing perfectly aligned as occasionally it gets off center just a bit and the primer pocket is not perfectly round.

maybe we hook up a deal in the future, you trim my brass, I'll swage yours on my 1050... swaging on the 1050 with a case feeder is the bomb...

Got the bucks just buy a dillon 1050 and mount a rapid trim on it Load too. All set up it should.nt cost more than two grand

Two years ago I bought the Inline Fabrication centering inserts for the Super Swage. They have stayed safely in their little Ziploc bag since then.

Today I was swaging some .223 brass and I was getting a little irritated by how the brass would sometimes land a little to the left or right of where it should be, and the swaging rod would then hit the back of the case rather than the primer pocket. So, I busted 'em out!

Here's the swager with the .223 insert installed. It's that U-shaped black thing:



And here it is with a .223 case sitting in it:



Man, what a difference! I could just slap the cases down, then run the handle -- no issues with the swaging rod being misaligned with the primer pocket.

It's a winner!

I had contemplated buying one but first wanted to test drive one so I traded a fishing trip for Mygrainman for the use of his Dillon 600.
I had over 5k 5.56 to swage so I got busy. I checked the first 20 to make sure it was set up right (plus watched a few YT videos) so off to the races as they say.
I opted not to buy because I figured at my age I’ll not have to replenish my supply of cases (7k total) and most all are LC so they should last a while.
