Just received an e-mail about this http://us8.campaign-archive1.com/?u=686976a400749d61e09522350&id=a33ef03ab4

I'm nowhere near this meeting place but if there is anyone on this forum who is and could represent waguns that would be nice. From the link it looks like Tahuya State Forest is ground zero for the DNR when it comes to opening up designated shooting areas under their managed lands. Like it says in the e-mail; what happens at Tahuya state forest may be the ground work for other DNR target shooting projects all over the state so this is very important how this turns out. Also forest service, fish and game may follow suit.

It's good to see that recreational target shooting is finally being recognized as a legitimate recreation that deserves the respect other recreations get. Not there yet but our involvement will speed up the process.

I hope someone can attend this and report back with some notes. It's too far for me to drive up there on a Tuesday evening.

I'd like to know if they are planning 'Designated' shooting locations? As in, you can't shoot anywhere else but here. Not so good if you have a special place and don't want to be restricted from it. Some people will not shoot next to strangers and will not share the lane. Also, when the lanes are full and you can't get in to shoot, you'll want to go elsewhere in the forest.

Will they seek shooter input on the design features we want and would recommend?

Are they seeking volunteer help with the construction or plan to sub it out?

Where is the funding coming from and what are cost estimates?

What is their end-in-mind? What are they thinking will be the result(s)?

I'm hoping for the best outcome of this move by DNR. I'm a firm believer that quality improved shooting lanes help solve a lot of problems on public land. I hope they incorporate our ideas and give due credit to those who contribute. Will be well worth your time!

Bill

Just listen to what they say. I suspect most of my above questions will be answered as they explain some details.

You might jot down a question you'd like to ask.

It's possible they don't have any answers yet and may be looking for those from people at the meeting. It's also possible they know exactly what they are going to do and simply want us to get on board with their plan.

I'm afraid, in this meeting, they'll be in the same boat as they were in the first meeting... too many people, lots of ideas, not enough time, so they can't discuss many details.

Thanks for attending!
