But manages to go to a window that's breaking, get in front of a rifle barrel poking in the window, and grab the barrel WHILE HE'S STILL BOUND, and pull it towards him.... How the fuck?

The article did say his hands where bound IN FRONT of him. And that he did grab the barrel.

Dude is bound, but manages to get within 6" of a window, and grabs a barrel of a rifle of an agent making entry, AND pulls on it? Bullshit. Who steps in front of a rifle, then PULLS on the bbl?

I hardly find national news media as 'anti cops websites'....
I said it smells like bullshit.

It's not like his captors were the brightest bulbs on the tree.
He had his hands bound in front of him.
His son had been similarly bound, and had escaped. Called the cops. That's how they knew.
[sarc]If the place was surrounded, I'm sure the dim bulbs were more interested in keeping an eye on him, than on what the cops were going to do. [/sarc] So, yeah, he moved toward the window, when someone was breaking it open.
Going to guess the hostage wasn't exactly the brightest either. So, when he saw the barrel of the rifle sticking through, he might have had the thought to grab it from whomever, and use it to shoot his captors.
Cop outside only knew someone was pulling on his rifle. What would YOU do, in that situation? Me? I'd probably pull the trigger.
