We're planning our yearly bike trip, seeing if anyone wants to go along.
Probably not much for any dirt stuff this year, but exploring a road somewhere always happens, especially if looking for a camp spot.
Planning on a 5 day round trip up to Calgary for the Stampede all day Saturday. The town is a full blown party the entire week.
Leave 0600 on 12 July and back on the 16th.
We'll be tent camping mostly, maybe a hotel for a hot shower one or two nights.
Looking to be over 1500 miles round-trip and debating coming back thru Glacier National Park. Have to do more research on that as it could put a crunch on time, and pushing miles on a bike wears you out fast which ends the fun factor.
Heading there over Cascade highway and up to Osoyos border crossing and probably camping south of Revelstoke.
Gotta have a bike capable of putting on miles at speed, and conditioned ass to sit in the saddle for a few hours. And of course no weapons.
Let me know.

Sounds like an awesome plan! Enjoy!

We're going to try to make the Stampede next July in 2019 with our RV.

Next year, it's pertnear a straight shot north for you!
If only you had your place already built......I'd have a spot to set up camp!

Have heard about how fun it is during the Stampede, just never went and now is the time to do it.

Near our Ennis, MT ranch we sold 10 years ago, they had 4th July rodeo that was fun. It drew riders from all over the state. Calgary is supposed to be the world's largest rodeo apparently.

Sounds good.
Right now there are 5 of us going, 3 BMW's, a Verses and a KLR650.
Due the the KLR, won't be a super fast blowing the speed limit trip, but he pulls pretty good with the BMWs

I have an R1, so I think I can keep up.

It's not the most comfortable on long rides but I've done a few on it. Been up to the interior of BC to see family with it.

There's a good chance I won't be back from Hawaii by July 12. I'm sailing a boat back so it all depends on the wind.

I'm a definite maybe, have to see if I'm riding to SC to see family around then.
I'd bring my 2003 FXDL, goes 70 in second gear, think I can keep up.

Been back, but busy getting back to remodel, getting ready for next week's trip and work so no time to update.

1600+ mile round trip, excellent trip!

Canadians though.......those fuckers just DO NOT litter.
Once we passed thru ghettoville Osoyos, the land is taken care of.
Went down through Idaho on return trip, started getting trashy again about an hour north of the border. I now believe, Canadians are doing it right with their land and self respect. Wish we could learn from it....
First camping night in Kelowna, waitress at this sports bar we had dinner at recommended this dirt road just a couple miles outta town. We're figuring a kids party area but we're tired. Shit, no trash, no beer bottles, no beer cans, no appliances just absolutly nothing but a pristine area to hang out and watch the city and sunset. Huge fire pit with some stacked pallets for firewood, stashed 5 gal can half full of fuel and a nice area to put up a tent. Felt guilty for just pissing on a tree and flicking cigar ashes on the ground.
Trip into Calgary was the same, there is no trash on the roads, no cigarette butts, Gatorade bombs or anything else that would 'fall' out of a vehicle, those northern folks don't litter.
Calgary looks like a mini Seattle with tall buildings etc, but the place is clean and looking the same as the highways, actually a really neat city that changes views of city life.
And the Stampede must be the short, short shorts capital of the world! I swear, they cut those jeans just below the crotch and wear em.
No Walmart trash or heafty gals, seems like everyone took care of themselves and had pride, makes the U.S. look like white trash central, sadly.

Calgary is definitely a Cowboy town, no doubt about that.

Doing it again. Adding a a couple more days next trip. Seemed like we really had to keep the speeds way up and minimize butt breaks to make the trip.

If you go to Canada, get an hour north of the border to see the good stuff, too much American influence close to the border.
We're our own worse enemy...

I returned a few weeks ago from a trip to the Badlands, Sturgis, Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore (4000 miles)
We stopped at my wife's sisters house in Montana on the way home and even though I parked where she told me to, she still backed into my Goldwing on Friday the 13th icon_eek It's my new lucky day because I wasn't on it!!!
The shop can't even look at it to order parts until Aug 9th...

Crap Classic, that's a rough deal.

Step Mom backed into my 70's Blazer 25 some odd years ago, wiped it out good and being family, she figured I wouldn't make a claim on her insurance. E3 GI making less than a grand a month, wasn't coming out of my pocket.

Get her fixed right!

The clouds silver lining is:
1) I wasn't on it
2) The vacation was pretty much done
3) She has insurance!

Enjoy the trip :thumbsup2:
