Do you follow the elk to new GMUs or stay in favorite spots?

to see if MadPick finds this post in the recesses of the forum. Every time I meet him he appears to have read every single post on the board.
On topic, do hunters follow the GMUs with the greatest number of harvested elk reported last year? Or do they tend to just stay in favorite spots?
Similarly, has anyone ever examined the harvested elk density by GMU and headed not to the highest harvest GMU but the second highest?
Elk density where we've been has been very low and we've been wondering about scouting out a shift.

I tag along but sometimes will go my own way with some friends in another area. We all communicate and hunt kinda like socialists. If a few get tagged and a few don't the wealth is shared. But we hunt for meat not for horns. We're the same way--everyone shares. However, everyone has come home empty-handed for the last three years. Drought, earlier/longer winter, fires, all have thinned the herd.

I don't need to go anywhere, the bloody things magrate through my property each year. As do the Deer, Bear, and those fooking 'yotes. They're the only ones I shoot on sight when I can.
