SBR, and full-auto MUST have approval before moving. Suppressors more of a notification. Use form 5320.20. print, sign, scan, and send to: NFAFAX@atf.gov or fax it to 304-616-4501.

Have you done this? Just curious if you are moving if they send you a new tax stamp with your new address on it.

I believe you can also revert an SBR back to non NFA configuration and be good.
Slap a 16” upper on your AR SBR and put the short upper on a pistol lower.
Of course, you still need to file the papers for a permanent move.

Just got a letter from ATF: "DISAPPROVED" Applicant incorrect. Registered to trust.

I’ve made several interstate moves now with NFA items, all registered to a trust. You send the ATF two copies of the 5320.20 several weeks in advance of your move, and they will send one back with the approval. I believe it applies for both permanent moves of any type (inter or intra state) as well as temporary moves across state lines. I had to do one to take my NFA items from my home near Fort Leavenworth, Kansas just across the river to a range in Missouri.

ATF Form 5320.20 is required for all instances of interstate transport (not intrastate) of NFA firearms, as well as foreign commerce. However, it is not required for silencers. The info is all in the Instructions page. As RocketScott said, if you have a SBR'd AR lower receiver, you can take off the short-barreled upper, put on a 16"+ barreled upper, and then take it across state lines without having to file the 5320.20.
