Took my Tavor out to get it sighted in. I did most of the sighting with some reman fmj plinking stuff, and then decided to try a couple rounds of each of my pricier hunting rounds. What an eye opener. Barnes Vortex 110 gr shot fine, Winchester Deer Season XP 150 gr was fine, Hornady 110 gr Full Boar...garbage! I'm a big Hornady fanboy, but at 50 yards I wasn't even hitting the paper. Before I adjusted my scope I was hitting the paper, but to totally miss the target after being dialed in I couldn't believe it.
Also shot my M17 for the first time. Not bad after I got the sight picture right. I need to get the Leupold Delta Point though for my blind old ass.
Deer gun season isn't till the end of Nov, so I have plenty of time to do some more tweaking, and maybe try a couple of other guns before I make my final gun choice.

Just wiped down a Big Red Walnut M14 stock with mineral spirits to clean it, then applied the first coat of BLO. Anyone need an Excellent graded Big Red Walnut stock for their M1A? I will be selling this one as it's an extra.

Lamrith and I went to the Cascade rifle range, where I showed my undies to the public: That smoke-belcher is my replica 1861 Springfield: I was using 60 grains of FFg powder and 475-grain, .58-caliber Minie balls. Velocity was about 1070 fps. My shoulder took a good whumpin' after a while, it was a lot of fun. Then I went to the pistol range to answer the age-old question: If you're traveling through rattlesnake country, should you trust your life to a Ruger, a Walther or a Taurus? Which one would YOU pick? And this answer is: - Spoiler: show
TAURUS!
All right, all right, I know it's not a fair contest . . . but it's my contest, and I'm making the rules, dammit!
I wasn't sure if the shotshells would cycle the semi-autos. Turns out, it wasn't a question of cycling power; the issue is that the cases open up to be fairly long, and the end of the cases got stick in the chamber (or maybe in the rifling of the barrel, I'm not sure). Neither of the semi-autos would extract the cases. See the rod on the table? That was to extract the case from the Walther.

After 12 months away from my cz75, ran the casino drill cold in 14.19s from concealment. Acceptable improvement. I run it with mags loaded 6, 7, 8, then randomly load pouches. Use a com 2a target ( https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/d ... on-2-a.asp), 21 feet, 21 rounds only (no makeups), 21 second par. on buzzer shoot 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on etc. Add 1 second per miss, DQ if you miss the sequence at any point with the random reloads. Recommended.

Got a set of vice blocks to help my friend finish building his AR10. For $24 shipped it’s a great deal. Works with AR15s too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I bought a stripped lower at the last Monroe show. Guy gave me a decent deal, out the door, all paperwork under $50
I won TWO stripped lowers in the drawing. One of these will be for my 6.8SPC. Going to a meet up at 2A Industries and pay the trans fees
I ordered the low cost blem MOE light weight rifle kit from PSA to build with the lightest of the above lowers. Shipped already.
I ordered a MOE AR-10 lower from PSA, delivering to Fall City Firearms.

Got very lucky today at Lacey Cabelas... while poking around the Gun Library, I found a damn near perfect Ruger SR1911 .45 Commander... for $349 In the same cabinet other Ruger SR1911s were $699 or more. So, although I wasn't looking to buy another 1911, who can pass up half price?! Every employee who helped me commented on what a great deal it was, killer price, etc., but no one pointed out that it was likely a pricing error. Paperwork, paid, and out the door I went gun in hand

They were made by Kingston Armory for their M-1 Garand/10/22 tribute guns, when Kingston folded Front Line Armory bought their remaining inventory and is selling them on gun broker https://www.gunbroker.com/item/788718439
