Got back from elk camp. I didn't see any spikes but, I did call in some cows for Fishranger that had a cow tag. Anyone got a lead on the Any Elk units in Eastern Washington that are open until the 15th?

I'll be up around Lake Wenatchee at the end of the season, that unit gets a few days extra and is any elk. They are tough to find in those mountains unless there's a little snow to help track.

They are tough to find in those mountains unless there's a little snow to help track. That's in unit 250 which has been on my list for two season as a backup plan. Each year I ask more questions and get more answers that all lead to the same determination that you need snow. Snow for pushing them down the mountain and into lower areas, snow for tracking. The harvest reports were quoted to me are VERY low for the past few years. 1-3 per year...that's really low. OhShoot! wrote: Elk soon come. I wish... I believe Chiwawa is unit 245.
My crew and I got a cow last year, but we saw her from the road. I would never depend on this...first time that's ever happened.

I’m in Need To Kill mode. It’s a lot of time and money spent to hunt as much as I do. Not coming home with groceries and not OK for me. Throwing a Hail Mary this weekend is likely to happen.

Oh no, not even close. Just the first we've encountered while scouting the roads, looking for sign. SOP is to find the fresh tracks and come up with a plan to get ahead of their direction of travel involving a drive and then getting out. Sometimes we use a brush dog (a person) to push them our way.

I had elk just coming back in now that the forest fire is mostly out but a bunch of idiots on quads built an illegal bipass of a washed out culvert and then proceeded into the wilderness area and scared the elk back up the hill. I have disabled archery cow tag and permission to hunt in an area that others will be shot if found in so I ain telling hwere I will be later today.

Tana I was looking at MT licenses and tags this morning and got lost. How many hundreds of dollars are they wanting for a non resident to hunt elk?
