Its not for me. To each his own, but Im not part of that scene. I have a friend that when he comes to town he has to go to the pot store like its a visit to the circus! he thinks its the coolest shit around. I took him once and they scanned our IDs at the door. I am positive that machine doesn't just "check" your ID. Any machine that records info these days is KEEPING it for other reasons.

That scene has really changed. When I was younger and we used to party, the folks were regular folks. Everybody in that "pot store" has blue and purple or green hair and looked like they were from Comic-con or were full of piercings and belonged at the tattoo shop. They all looked like they were barely old enough to work, let along sell a controlled substance. Nobody I would have smoked or drank with 20 years ago. I don't think I could have had an entertaining conversation with a single person there.

Apparently reading comprehension is not a pot smoking gun owners forte.........Every time you buy a gun and fill out ATF Form 4473 line "e", it asks....Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug or any other controlled substance?
WARNING: THE USE OF OR POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA REMAINS UNLAWFUL UNDER FEDERAL LAW REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT HAS BEEN LEGALIZED OR DECRIMINALIZED FOR MEDICAL OR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES IN THE STATE WHERE YOU RESIDE.

DON'T GET A MMJ CARD IF YOU WANT YOUR GUNS........LAW ENFORCEMENT HAVE ACCESS TO THAT DATABASE.

There's NO DATABASE for recreational use if your worried about gun confiscation, while you are committing a federal felony.

Sucks for some people. But until it's federally legal, you gotta play by their stupid rules.

The way around this is to not smoke UNTIL you have gotten all the guns you want. That way you aren't lying on the form. So load up then start smoking!
(In no way am I suggesting this is a wise thing to do, or a good idea, just pointing out a way around the above well made point.)

The 9th circuit court made a decision that just having a medical marijuana card is an automatic disqualification. A woman got a green card just to force the issue, went up to the 9th and they ruled against her. It would take a US Supreme Court decision to overturn that now.

If I had to choose one, I would much rather be around a pothead with a gun more than a drunk with a gun.

I've never had a pothead want to start a fight with me or anyone else... at least not while stoned. I've seen plenty of drunks want to start fights and even pull a knife on another person at a food bank for asking if he wanted to trade sandwiches.

P. Before anyone goes getting any ideas, I quit smoking weed years ago

They are cash only because the banks will not do business with them because they fall under federal rules. They cannot run debit cards for the same reason. I am willing to bet the ATMs that are inside are not from any bank that does interstate business (interstate commerce clause) and are probably privately owned.

So even though they aren’t keeping records, they are keeping records. It was before my time, but during the Mcarthy era, they’d dig up the role calls of the “secret” meetings of various socialist groups an then put those names on a subpoena. These meetings took place during the depression, where a lot of groups would feed you if you listen to whatever drivel they were preaching. A lot of people would attend this meeting once get the meal find out they couldn’t stomach the talk and not come back, but because they put their name on that roster they would end up having to testify 20 years later in front of a witch hunt. So they scan everone’s ID, proof you were there, what if the feds start cracking down on weed? They can seize the business and all that data with it with just a fisa, then they can hunt down every customer because it’s a cash only business they don’t know how much you may or may not have purchased but they know you were present. If you bought a gun through a gun store they got that too so that bumps you up to the top of the list of people to burn. I don’t think I want that kind of heat so maybe just stay away from those stores that scan your ID? If they all do it maybe just do it the old fashion way until the Feds make a decision on it?

How about people that drink, and then smoke. And then decide to get the guns back out when it’s dark and late cause they are all fucked up now and it sounds fun.

There is cognitive dissonance on both sides of the aisle when it comes to the convergence of these two issues (guns & marijuana).

The left wants to legalize marijuana, insisting that its use should not be criminal, but they're happy to leverage its illegal status against otherwise law-abiding gun owners who exercise their constitutionally-enshrined rights.

The right wants to restore/expand gun rights, claiming that it is an issue of individual liberty (it is), but they want to keep marijuana illegal, claiming that it's not an issue of individual liberty (even though it is).
