How well did that steel plate hold up that was down range?

Which one?

I had two hanging plates, one large and one small, near the right side of the range. The large one came down in the afternoon, but that wasn't unexpected . . . it has been barely hanging on by shredded fire hose for the last few years. The plate itself was fine, just lying on the ground after the hose gave way.

The small plate and the stand were all good except for a few bullet holes in the legs, but that's why I use cheap conduit for legs. :thumbsup2:

The panel held up pretty well. I was tapping it with 190 gr solid copper rounds @ 2950 fps and don't believe any actually went through, but if it'd been a rigid mount, a wall, I do not doubt I could have gotten though with a full mag or two.
After about 10 rounds into it, it was pretty much peeled apart and blowing out crap at each shot.
I have a feeling that with a steel insert or penetration rounds, no more than 5 rounds to get through.
Makes me wish I'd just pulled all good bullets I had that we used in the 300 many years ago in the service, would go thru a few inches of plate, but shot them all up to get the brass for hunting rounds making a hole in a rock face, had a couple hundred....

At the end of the day I hit 2-3 times with the 50 BMG

I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to all who attended the New Year's Shoot yesterday!

From what I hear it was a record turn out, which certainly makes things complicated (and crowded), but it seemed to go very smoothly and I think most everyone had a great time.

Thank you to all those who brought food. Cooked food at the range. Helped set up and serve and clean up. You all put in so much work and everyone got fed so very well. Thank you for all you did!

Thank you to all of you members for bringing out your toys to show, shoot, and share! What an awesome assortment of weaponry! Everyone I saw shooting yesterday did so in a respectful and safe manner (which can be tough in such a crowded environment). There were so many "oh that's cool" smiles yesterday on the firing line!

Special mention to member Highway for his incredible generosity. This was by far the most memorable shoot for me yet, and you sir were a big part of that! Thank you again and please don't hesitate to contact me regarding your hardwood floors. As I mentioned at the shoot, I may not be able to take on your project myself due to the distance, but I'm more than happy to find you an excellent local company and provide any helpful information along the way.

A big thank you to the Evergreen Sportsman's Club for allowing our event at their facility! Very nice club and great place to shoot. I wish it wasn't a 2 hour drive for me!

And of course thank you Dan and Steve for putting together such an awesome event for the membership! I don't know if the membership sees it but these guys don't get to do much shooting at the event. They are the first people to show up, and the last to leave. They run the introduction, rules, raffles, organization, planning, set up, clean up, all of it! Oh, and they pay for the range rental!

Hell of a day ladies and gents! Thank you all!

Did I miss anything?

We had a blast! Thank you to ESC for hosting us, WAGuns for organizing, WAGunners for staying up late or getting up early to get food, guns and other essentials ready for the shoot.

Dave/Rita sorry I ate half of the amazing curry you brought!
Lydia/Chris Sorry my husband ate half of your pot of Taco Soup. :p
Thank you to Steve for grilling up delicious burgers and hotdogs!

All the deserts looked amazing, kiddos asked for seconds.. hehe
Guns4Liberty my belly will thank you a third time (when I have it for lunch) for the delicious, delicious poke.

Thank you to all who brought heat sources to share, this tropical transplant appreciated it.

To all the generous guys who brought guns and ammo to share, a big thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed the guns that I got an opportunity to shoot, and if I didn't, I enjoyed other people's reactions. I wish my husband (PMB) didn't have a torn up shoulder so that he could try out the guns!

Everyone that donated to the PIF table, thank you. Glad that Little Balrog was comfortable walking around with me while tools were being tested.. We did a lot of research to get her the correct eye protection, ear plugs and ear muffs on top of those. The temperature didn't bother her as she takes after her father.

A minute after pulling out of the parking area, she said "I want to go again" :D

To all the guys who picked up ammo cans, it was a pleasure to meet you.

It was really nice to see more ladies participating, and we hope to see many more at the next NYS, including kiddos!

Looks like it was a blast as usual. Had hoped to at least shoot some rimfires in my backyard out of solidarity, but ended up getting my snow plow operational instead. Then blew the rest of the daylight watching my Huskies lose :(

On the plus side, I didn't bleed out of my face from a ricochet like 2 years ago at the NYDS, so I got that going for me.

I remember that! That happened on the pistol range, right?

After shooting your Tommy a few years ago I have had the need to shoot FA. Glad you had fun brother.

That place of steel and stone. I pray that you will keep me safe, so I will not walk alone. Help me to do my duty, please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places and slamming steel door sounds. God, keep my fellow Officers well and free from harm. Let them know I'll be there too, whenever there's alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat, no matter where I roam. Let me go back whence I came, to family and home

Would have been better with you there. I was at the shoot to see friends, not so much to shoot.
