For many years guns have been defacto banned there due to strict government regulations that made it almost impossible to purchase or carry them.

The new president was partially elected on a platform of legalizing guns. One of his signature campaign aspects was a gun salute he'd do.

Libs are always going on about international comparisons. If Brazil sees a large crime and homicide drop from this strategy this will help to shut them up.

I doubt it will shut anyone up. What I see happening is, citizens will be shooting bad guys and killing them, missed shots at bg’s with innocent bystanders hit, negligent discharges with innocents hit. They’ll be all over the numbers, taking it out of context and twisting it to suit their needs.

As I said in other thread. The Venezuelan thing didn't actually disarmed people. Just made the law abiding join the larger illegal side.

I think you will see a spike in deaths for a short time while people realize others are defending themselves. Then it should taper off and lower.

This would be the first time that I have noticed a public reversal by a nation towards a more 2A view in my lifetime.
Are there any others that I missed?

Any word on the proposed wording of any changes?

Brazil doesn't need guns:

"A robber who tried to steal a mobile phone from a young woman in Rio de Janeiro learned the hard way that mugging a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who goes by the nickname “The Iron Lady” is not an excellent idea."

Excellent..........

If Brasil allows more gun ownership (you can own a gun there now) - I MAY change my retirement plans.

Brazil is just finally being pragmatic, there is no way in hell the could enforce the gun laws anyway. Their borders are more pourous than ours and their import laws are only concerned with generating government revenue.

All of those poor people who pick pockets of random tourists are going to have to find a real job. Maybe they can get a job working for Hitlery tending her lawn.
