I recall President Trump making mention of reducing the number of laws if elected. Can anyone recall how he talked about it?
Since long before I found WaGuns, I've railed against the unbelievable number of laws on the books. It's not only silly, but the laws are powerful tools for tyranny. I've mentioned it a few times before that I think the first new law that should be passed is to require a reduction of two laws to pass one more. Same regarding rules, regulations, codes.
I'm of the understanding that there has been a pretty marked reduction in some sectors because of President Trump's decisions. Is there a ticker somewhere keeping track of the reductions?

TINCANBANDIT posted this video in two other threads. It's a mind blow.

https://youtu.be/nBiJB8YuDBQ

I am going to contact each and every legislator, both state and federal, and ask them to watch the video and consider sponsoring a bill to reduce this overarching bureaucracy and growing environment for tyranny.
Can my fellow WaGunners also consider looking into encouraging our representatives to write and sponsor a bill like this?

I'm probably the last person in the USA to have watched the video in its entirety... lol

All I know is that every law needs a sunset clause where at actual data is reviewed to see if rhe law was effective at doing what it was intended to do. Then it gets either put back on the ballot for renewal approval bybthebpeople, or its tossed out.

you can't control law abiding free citizens.

you can control criminals, and guide behavior of those you want to control by making things illegal..

there's money to be made by making everything illegal.

It's total horse**** in my opinion.

Where is the "Land of the Free?"

All these laws, including "gun control" are ultimately to be enforced by men wearing body armor, with guns riding in armored vehicles, with authority to kick in your doors and shoot to kill. Traffic tickets, business licenses, court orders, PREEMPTIVE restraining orders or concerns, littering, you name it....

Look, I understand we need some order and laws to genuinely protect people and create some form of functioning society to avoid total lawless anarchy. But I'm convinced that the majority of laws should just be wiped right out of the books.

You guys are having some very impure thoughts.

Did any of you watch the chamber video of the King County Council making the recent gun ban laws? Some of those people absolutely felt unencumbered to write just about anything and make it so. Very scary.

I love Heinlein's idea in one of his books. Takes > 2/3rds to pass a law. 1/3rd can repeal a law.

THAT of course is an excellent idea.

It really is... Does anyone see any possibility of this being taken seriously by legislatures for regular laws, not just changes to the Constitution?

What is Congress there for, if not to pass laws?

I know the math doesn't work out, but I've held that for every law passed, two must be repealed.

THAT would keep them busy, and stop the proliferation of bullshit/nuisance laws.

The math works out right, but the speed of corrections is way too slow.

I still like the idea that every law should have an expiration date.

At that time, there should be a review to see how effective the law has been, for it's intended purpose.

If it has been effective, keep it.

If it has just sat there and done nothing, can it.

If it has caused damage instead, can it with prejudice. Undoing the damage as much as possible.

I've also noticed that when politicians list their "accomplishments" it lists the laws they have PASSED". It appears we the people have been trained to think that passing laws is a good thing. Politicians boast about it.

Yup. Have you seen the news stories that say something like, "This has been the most unproductive Congress is X years, they have only passed Y laws"?

Total shit.
