SWAG HATS

Anyone stopping by tomorrow have any cool swag hats that they aren't going to wear?
A friend of mine has a young ~10y/o son that now has to wear a hat and sunglasses every time he goes outside or else he increases the risk of loosing his eyesight. They live in Florida. I'm going to send him some hats I have. If anyone wants to throw in a hat, I'd appreciate it and I know they would too. Than you.

Yep. I will bring at least one.

I stopped by to pick up my uppers and lowers today, and it seems that half of WaGuns was doing the same.

I got to meet Peckerinak and Pistondriven, and was fortunate enough to arrive after MyNameIs940 left. :wagwoot:

These lowers are really nice, and I'm glad I got in on the buy.

Oh, and Lola likes the patch.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. ATF SAIC...he's joking. I would not violate the terms of my license. In the mean time, I'll wait for my Type 06 and 07 licenses to get approved.

Well, since Big D didn't really assemble my lower, I threw a LPK in last night and finished up a dedicated lefty .22 l.r. as a WMD for Montana gophers in a couple months.

Thank you, dreadi, for a great group buy. This was absolutely the easiest and most efficient buy that I've ever participated in, both here and in my previous state.

All right ... I finished one of mine, using dreadi’s lower and a $300 Palmetto kit. I decided that I need one AR with iron sights.

One interesting thing ... the spring and plunger for the rear takedown spring come straight upwards and are compressed by the pistol grip. It doesn’t come from the rear of the receiver like it does on most lowers.

What are you talking 'bout Willis? The vertical spring/detente pin are the SAFETY detente and are under the grip. The horizontal spring and detente pin are for the take down. Did you have extra parts when you were done?

Maybe this will help:

Yeah, I noticed that. I tapped out the hole with a 4-40 tap and slightly shortened the spring. Then I used a 4-40 Allen head set screw to retain the detent plunger. Its bad enough to lose the safety detent and spring nearly every time I take the pistol grip off. The thought of trying to keep track off another spring and pin was unbearable.

I do the same on the regular style lowers where the rear takedown pin spring and detent come in from the rear. Keeping it captive with a set screw just makes it easier to assemble and take apart without worrying about chasing springs all over the place.

LOL . . . I know, Jim. With this lower, there are TWO vertical springs being compressed by the pistol grip. Fun fact!

Since I was on a roll (and the range is still snowed in), I decide to assemble another lower and unbox a Chiappa .22 upper that I bought . . . err . . . a few years back. I figured yeah, I've got AR parts coming out of my ears, I should have everything I need, right?

Well, as it turns out I had everything I needed except a buffer tube. :facepalm2:

I think I can actually fire it this way, as it doesn't appear to need the buffer tube (or buffer) to fire. But of course, it'll be easier with a stock, so I'll order the part and wait. :frust:

Both of those would look sweet with detachable carry handles...
