Ok so I've been reading though the RCWs to try and find the exact RCW that prohibits me from owning a binary trigger in Washington state. Can anyone point me to the exact RCW please.

And two if I SBR a lower receiver and place a binary trigger in it, it's an NFA item and the Fed's do not see a binary trigger as a machine gun. So in theory the state would not be able to regulate the NFA item in this instance.
I'm I on to something or not?

The company that sells them won't ship to WA, but will sell it directly to you when they come to the TRIGGRCON.

The relevant part of that link is this:

Quote:
(18) "Machine gun" means any firearm known as a machine gun, mechanical rifle, submachine gun, or any other mechanism or instrument not requiring that the trigger be pressed for each shot and having a reservoir clip, disc, drum, belt, or other separable mechanical device for storing, carrying, or supplying ammunition which can be loaded into the firearm, mechanism, or instrument, and fired therefrom at the rate of five or more shots per second.

So, they believe that your gun becomes a machine gun (by WA definition) when you install a binary trigger.

Will it fire more than five shots per second? Yeah, probably.

Does it require that the trigger be "pressed" for each shot? Mmmmm . . . well, I guess not. You press (push) the trigger for every other shot.

Well, you need to meet that requirement PLUS fire five shots per second.

I believe a binary trigger doesn't come close to 5rds per second. I'll find the reference

Pew pew tactical wrote about the franklin armory binary trigger and he ran 400 rounds/min, which is 6.7 rounds a second.

If you're thinking about getting one, and bringing it into the State....

Don't.

Yeah, binary triggers are cool, and I wish I could have one. But the State of Washington has designated the binary trigger as a part of a machine gun. Same as a lightning link or a DIAS.

Get caught with it...instant C Felony. You lose the trigger...the gun WITH the trigger...and after the trial, ALL your firearms and ammunition...if not forever for a long, long time.

Is it worth it? No.

If we don't like the law, let us change the law by use of the petition and/or referendum. Until then, it is the law.

(Reference: RCW 9.41.190)

Unless your machine gun is on a Form 4 prior to 1994, you may NOT own full auto in the State of Washington. See: RCW 9.41.190.

I don’t see it as a direction question. It’s whether you apply force to the trigger in order to make it move, and the gun to fire. Or, does a spring do the work for you?

Yeah, more silly word games with gun laws, that accomplish nothing useful.

It's a federal thing... Just because WA copied the federal language doesn't make it any more or less illegal. Same law applies in Idaho too.

If you're now thinking to yourself,

"Wow. So, nothing really changed at all with all that hooplah about passing that law about undetectable and/or untraceable firearms, did it?"

Yes. Effectively nothing changed.
