UPDATE: sheriff sent the brand new CPL in the mail on 2/1/2019 and I got it already!. So, it took 20 days for them to make it and put it on the mail plus time to hit my mailbox. Hope this thread helps future green card holders having questions about getting a CPL. Summary: it is all good and smooth just like for any citizen.

Congrats man! It's a really good feeling when you finally get it.

UPDATE: having CPL doesn't stop NICS from delaying background checks at least for a rifle. Will update if I do a hand gun transfer.

Damn, guess I’m lucky most of mine come back next day. Like a good 90% of them. The others are back within 2 days. I’ve had one take 8 days but that’s one out of 30ish background checks.

What is this thing called "delay" that you guys keep talking about?

When someone buys a gun with a greencard 100% of the time the NICS check comes back with a "delay" status. Sometimes they will get a "proceed" a few hours later, but most of the time it's a couple of days later.

As I understand it the FBI forwards the application to USCIS to validate the greencard or something, even though the FBI should have access to that information. I don't know.

Anyway it means you need to take a minimum of two trips to the LGS for every purchase, as though everything were a handgun.

I was being facetious. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the effort, though. Honest mistake.
