Many FFLs won't take a shipment from out of state from an individual, only from an FFL. When FFL to FFL from out of state, tax is collected.

West Coast Armory will accept a shipment from an individual.

That's for the other thread; this one's about private party transfers.

That said, though, I haven't personally run across an FFL who wouldn't accept a shipment from a non-FFL. I've heard internet rumors of such places, but that's it.

All transfers are $20. (Except NFA). Regardless of p2p or Internet.

I consider buying a used pistol from an individual, even if it's shipped, a private party transfer. :)

I just called some gun shops in my area - Pintos & XTArmory would not accept shipment from an individual, only FFL. I purchase a fair number of 1911s, and many for sale posts will say make sure your FFL will accept shipments from an individual, otherwise add $50 for FFL shipment. As soon as West Coast Armory said "yes" - I quit calling around, so I don't know the extent of this.

Also, I keep a gun lock in my car for transfers at West Coast. Never fails that every gun I purchase/transfer is missing the lock.

J&S Gun Shop in Lacey is $30 per transfer or $35 if you do not have a CPL even for long guns.
