Costco will require all customers and employees to wear masks or other face coverings starting May 4, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Since nearly every place that might stock N95 masks are "Out of Stock" will Costco be handing them out at the door?

No, and N95's are not required. Just a Mask that cover's the Nose and Mouth.

I have agreed with this type of thinking for a long time.
One side sees white.
The other side sees black.
This is the only color that they see.
I see grey. I have always seen grey.
I was raised to question EVERYTHING, if I agree with it or not.
I have raised my kids to be the same way.
"Why?" is one of most powerful words in the world.

I don't think so since I think it is expected that people can don their home spun masks.

"face coverings" not requiring N95 masks specifically. Use the old ladies drawers.

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm -- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves." – T.S. Eliot

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker

A careful definition of words would destroy half the agenda of the political left and scrutinizing evidence would destroy the other half. - Thomas Sowell

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...

For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

AAEM-ACEP Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation

The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical society and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19. As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health.

COVID-19 misinformation is widespread and dangerous. Members of AAEM and ACEP are first-hand witnesses to the human toll that COVID-19 is taking on our communities. AAEM and ACEP strongly advise against using any statements of Drs. Erickson and Massihi as a basis for policy and decision making.

What was factually wrong about their scientific information? Not assumptions, but their details description of how immune systems work?

This is my personal take from Inslee's broadcast on the COVID data:
According to the charts, we can re-open when the R is O, but maybe 1, and the number of infections a day is under 200, which it is, until it isn't. And these numbers are all for King County, the rest of the State doesn't matter. And this chart shows we are on track to open by 2045, until you hug your grandmother, then... zombies. I have no clue what I just watched...

I was listening on the radio, so didn't get the benefit of the spiffy charts and diagrams

Reporters have been asking what the metrics for reopening are for weeks. Lord Guv'na beat his bush and wouldn't say. So today he finally throws something out and just sounded like an idiot trying to justify bad decisions with graphs and zero understanding of what's behind them

Follow the science? I bet the only thing he can follow is a bright light like a moth

Here is the translation from Pete von Reichbauer King County Councilmember

Quote:
Today, Governor Inslee announced that the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order will be extended past May 4th. More details on the phases that things will open back up will be announced on Friday. To see the statewide data that Governor Inslee and his team rely on to make these decisions, you can visit www.coronavirus.wa.gov. The Governor also announced additional guidance for allowing elective, non-urgent medical procedures. You can read more in the Seattle Times here.

As I was watching the governor speak, I kept seeing Sleepy Joe's face flash in and out. Who was really talking? Has anyone asked if the gov is a contender for VP? He could be, right? :ROFLMAO:
All of his charts that I could see, showed that we are past the peak. Yet, even with all of this data, he cannot even commit to a re-open date? He also threatened to arrest people on Rattlesnake Ridge when asked about folks who were allegedly visiting there. icon_eek

States are eager to open up and get people back to work, but how do they do that without risking new coronavirus flare-ups? Public health leaders widely agree that communities need to ramp up capacity to test, trace and isolate. The idea behind this public health mantra is simple: Keep the virus in check by having teams of public health workers — epidemiologists, nurses, trained citizens — identify new positive cases, track down their contacts and help both the sick person and those who were exposed isolate themselves.

Washington does not meet estimated need for contact tracing.

CURRENT STAFFING LEVEL: 700
PLANNED HIRES: 800
PROJECTED TOTAL AFTER HIRES PER 100K RESIDENTS: 19.7

Estimated need innonemergencysituations: 15
Estimated need forCOVID-19: 30
