Americans have been outright CONNED and MANIPULATED. This is and always was a big power grab those that want total control over everyone. Control by taxation, gun control, removing your voice, removing your ability to use energy (heating, transportation, production, etc.), people control through this now clearly HOAX of a virus, etc.

The virus itself is real.

The con was completely about bringing Trump down.

He could have avoided it by taking the virus seriously. If he simply deferred to the scientists and experts, he would have eliminated his political risk. But he chose to dig in and make political statements about masks and the seriousness of the virus. This just played right into the Democrats hands. They can now blame every death and the economic impacts on him.

Not saying the Democrats would have tried to find some other way to attack Trump (I mean, that is what politics is all about these days).

I'm speaking from a pure political strategy, not debating whether masks + social distancing is effective or whether you believe the virus is actually a threat.

He could not avoid it. They were trying to bring him down from his first day in office. If he would have farted to loud they would have tried to find issue with it.

I agree they were out for him from day 1. Just like Republicans will have it out for Biden from the go.

I also think there is some truth that he could not have avoided this particular battle in the sense that Democrats would have still tried to find a way to criticize him. But being defiant in the face of coronvirus deaths and taking political stands he took.....essentially turning it into a "if you're a Trump supporter, you don't believe in masks or the virus" was like making it rain political capital on the democrats. This was a huge issue going into the elections and most likely persuaded some voters to shy away from voting for Trump.

Just saying it didn't need to be that way. Seemed like Trump took a gamble on how serious the virus was going to be and how much he was going to be able to spin it. And at the first sign of "you're wrong" he dug in rather than make a u-turn.

Apparently, the Democrats and some members on this board (did I just repeat myself?) are suffering from amnesia and cannot recall what actually happened when the virus first appeared here in the US. The Trump administration tried to restrict travel from certain countries, and the Democrats mocked him for it, called him a bigot and a racist, and undermined his efforts by telling everyone to go to parades in Chinatown, eat out at restaurants, etc. I also distinctly recall the Democrats focusing entirely on the sham impeachment while the China virus was becoming a global pandemic, and they were so blinded by their hatred for Trump that they neglected to give the virus a second thought. It was only after they realized they could weaponize it against him that they attempted to flip the script and say that he wasn't taking it seriously, and they were the adults in the room. Of course, they benefit from most major media outlets carrying their water for them, so it's easy to flip the script when you hold the powers to write and distribute it.
