Hey folks, just a heads-up that we have added rule #3 for buying/browsing in the "rules for the classifieds": Rules for the Classifieds (Buying, Selling and Browsing)The bottom line is this: If someone posts a WTS/WTB/WTT thread, it's okay to reply if you have something to add that's helpful to the thread . . . questions, additional info, etc. However, please don't reply with what we're calling "chit-chat," which would be anything that would derail the thread or otherwise be considered unhelpful by the original poster. If you want to derail a thread, we have discussion forums for that. Thanks for listening . . . comments, opinions and questions are welcome, as always.

Booo. Reminds me of the beginning of the end of TOS. Less freedom of speech. Suppression of individuality. Booo.

Actually it's just the opposite. It may harbor more ads and faster transactions when the ad isn't cluttered with personal opinions of many about how to properly season a steak. I see that confused look on your face, how the hell does seasoning a steak relate to a classifieds ad? It doesn't, case closed. <-- See what I did there?

"Lessons learned" and all that . . . . We're trying hard to keep a happy middle ground. We don't want people to feel "suppressed," and the mods don't want to spend all of their free time cleaning threads and sending PMs . . . but on the other hand, we're trying to respect people's for-sale threads.

Make it like the' OTHER' Forum you can only PM to a For Sale. Works there, no stupid 'Well I got one cheaper at....' replies to posts. Put it up to a vote.

My bad. The confused look wasn't about steak seasoning. Rest assured I'm never confused on matters of steak. The confusion lies in my misunderstanding of the difference of definition between a Forum site/community and a classifieds site. Nothing but "Aye, aye, sirs" (I understand and will comply, for you nonNav types)from me.

Let me try to clarify the new rule with an example. Let's say that bhpdrew posts up his SKS for sale; I believe he calls it "Nikole." An appropriate reply would be: "Does she ever jam using Wolf ammo?" An inappropriate reply would be: "That gun is taller than you are. Stand it on end, and the difference is even more obvious." Did that help?

Yes, this is a Community more than a classifieds. And just like all communities there are Burroughs, towns, sections etc. We have a section for Nude pics, a section for general discussion, a section to rant, a section to brag and a section to sell.
So these are just zoning issues, nothing more. It doesn't destroy the community, but rather defines it.
