Bumping . . . an oldie but a goody. We've been deleting a lot of replies in the classifieds lately, so please keep this in mind.
Legit questions, "welcome to WaGuns," and compliments on the price or the item are cool.

Never fails, I get somebody talking trash in my thread. I always put; PM any questions or concerns. But NO, somebody always got something say. Talking s**t.

Legit questions, "welcome to WaGuns," and compliments on the price or the item are cool. but encouraging another member to buy is not, apparently. good grief.

Here, let me help the discussion with the example in question. This was posted in a for-sale thread for an AK: jukk0u wrote: Old11bravo needs an AK.... C'mon Ron! All the cool kids have them! Nothing there is helpful to the seller. It's likely to be followed by a reply from Ron that says, "I checked with my wife and I can't have one." So then . . . again, not helpful.

Legit questions, "welcome to WaGuns," and compliments on the price or the item are cool. Not to be pedantic, but I noticed recently one of my comments on a WTB thread had been deleted. Now admittedly it was a useless one, which I called out as such, but it seemed to fall (to my mind) solidly in the "compliments on the price or the item" category and was a free bump for the OP. I'm not sure who deleted it, and it may have been at the OP's request (I've made similar requests when a FS/FT thread was becoming polluted). I don't mind that it was deleted, but I would like a call from the ref as to why. I try very hard to not stray outside of the site's rules, I figure Dan, Steve & the rest of mods have better things to do than police my posts. Usually my worst transgression is pissing off Steve because I forgot to put WTS / WTT, etc. in a title and I get a nasty gram to fix it.

Usually my worst transgression is pissing off Steve because I forgot to put WTS / WTT, etc. in a title and I get a nasty gram to fix it. Now come on . . . I don't send "nasty grams" for that! They are "nice grams." But okay, to address your question, I can do that. This was the WTB ad in question: Quote: WTB AR front flip up sight
I picked up a matech rear sight today at a yard sale for $5.00, now I need a front sight to go with it. I would prefer metal over plastic as these will be the primary sights on this rifle. Also prefer puyallupish area. Anyone got anything laying around? And you replied with this: delliottg wrote: Not particularly helpful, but that's a hell of a deal on a Matech. I deleted it because it wasn't related to the item in the WTB ad (front sight); rather, it was related to the rear sight that had already been purchased. I deleted at least one other person's post that was similar.

But seriously, you caught me at the wrong time. Early June, would have been all over it. A TacSol 10/22, two S&W J frames, and a SKS later and I'm tapped out. Sometimes I get that feeling to post unhelpful stuff too, like the quote above. However it does not help the item for sale at best and can derail the classified thread Into a debate off topic. Award for the most awesome gun ever for sale on WaGuns goes to? (Please open new thread on that one.)

Goodtimes, yeah, there's validity to what you're saying.
There's definitely a gray area, and sometimes it's hard to decide what's okay and what's not. Comments like the one you quoted "Early June, I would have been all over it" I generally don't delete even though I don't really care for them . . . I choose to take it as a compliment on the item that's for sale. The rest of that post is just along for the ride.

I got a ban for 3 days for saying something similar to that. Not going to piss and moan but it just shows how much of a gray area this is.
I don't know what the answer is. Some discussion might help a sale but at this point I won't post anything less than a commitment to buy. I would prefer discussion of details be out in the open though.

Why's that? "Hey, is that a real Eotech or an airsoft knockoff?" ... might be something everyone needs to hear.
