Why's that? Realistically, so the seller doesn't get asked the same question via PM 12 times or such. When there is a technical or detail question about a FS item i like them to be asked in the thread, then it's open and clear to all who are interested.

RocketScott wrote: I got a ban for 3 days for saying something similar to that. Not going to piss and moan but it just shows how much of a gray area this is. All right . . . let's review the logs here. Kf7mjf placed a for-sale ad for an 8" quad rail. The actual ad is no longer here, but there was something in the original post about it being inappropriate for sexual use. Then the replies started: RocketScott wrote: You had me 'til the disclaimers. zombie66 wrote: RocketScott wrote: You had me 'til the disclaimers. I know right WTF? After I buy it I should be able to "use" it however I want............... kf7mjf wrote: The edges on the rails haven't been rounded down, so it may not be safe for alternative use. zombie66 wrote: kf7mjf wrote: The edges on the rails haven't been rounded down, so it may not be safe for alternative use. I'm not sure ill be able to hit the sides............. See what happens? This is exactly why we have this rule; the classified thread got totally derailed in this case. You got a two-day ban, not three, and a couple of others got vacations too. Do you think it was unjustified? Remember, when the rules get violated it not only causes whatever havoc it causes like you see above, but you also require that a moderator spend some considerable time on the problem. Delete your thread, discuss with other mods, send PMs, etc. The mod team makes $0/hour and have personal lives just like everyone else, so when I see rules being willfully ignored (not "gray areas"), it gets me fired up because it has a real effect.

So, you'd like a bidding war to occur in the open? How about 594 compliance? We all know Waguns supports full compliance if all laws, but if an individual didn't, you want there to be an online record? There's also the other potential arguments....yeah, you were first, but you're 200 miles away with no feedback, and this guy will meet me at my work today...with 5 feedback...

All the cool kids have them! Nothing there is helpful to the seller. It's likely to be followed by a reply from Ron that says, "I checked with my wife and I can't have one." So then . . . again, not helpful. Geezus Steve, How'd you know? I for one second your sentiments Steve. Juk is making me go broke and very nearly costing me my marriage of 29 years. As far as I'm concerned he is a homewrecker extraordinaire! You should ban him for a week.

Wait...i thought we were just talking about the item details. You know, parts count for 922, rounds through, condition and the like. You went way beyond what i was thinking of.

The thing is that every time a thread gets bumped the other threads below it get bumped further down the list. I'm all for getting a free bump on my for sale ads, but it's not really fair to the other people underneath me who keep having their ad getting knocked further and further down the list because they aren't getting free bumps.

The questions were not on price and who gets first dibs being posted out in the open. The questions were gun specific, ie how many mags, round count, do you have the original etc.and so forth. Nor is this thread a guid line about who a seller should sell to and why. I am pretty sure the answer is if you choose not follow the laws relating to firearm transfers you should not be looking on this site for that.

I'm not sure I understand some of you guys, please feel free to point out what I'm missing, the very first post by Madpick says, The bottom line is this: If someone posts a WTS/WTB/WTT thread, it's okay to reply if you have something to add that's helpful to the thread . . . questions, additional info, etc. ... Now you guys want to argue it should be okay to ask questions, or for additional info The point of this thread is about things other than that, which includes 'chatting', as well as what I'm talking about...specifically the idea that all dialogue should be in the open.

I prefer WTS/WTB posts with no comments or questions in the thread. Clean. OP Only. The only redeeming feature of a question is that others might be wondering the same thing. If it's a glaring error/omission, then it's good to ask it. If it was asked by PM and the seller responded in his own thread to correct it or answer a basic question that he'd forgotten, then bonus. I'm not even fond of the "Welcome to WaGuns!" in the Classifieds section. I'd like to save that "welcome!" for when a member actually introduces himself. Herself. Theyselves.
I'm not suggesting to change the rules, just giving my opinion.
