Since a few of you were wondering...
This video covers the basics pretty well. So take a look if you're interested.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IuA8HGacJw&feature=youtube_gdata_playerAlso, here is my personal set up. When I started three years ago 2 razors (both from the 1950's), one shave soap and a 5 count pack of blades set me back $15 from eBay. The badger hair brush can run from $8 to over $50 for the REALLY nice ones. I spent $20 and it has lasted 3 years. Blades, if you buy them from Walgreen's are about $7 for ten. But, if you look on Amazon or elsewhere on the web you can get 100 for about $15. A 12 pack of Mach 3 blades is $25.One blade will last me one shave. But, I have thick, heavy facial hair that beats the shit out of blades. If you have a thinner beard, the blades will last longer. Nice thing about it though, is I have a fresh blade every shave, it's cleaner, I don't butcher my face and it's a shit ton cheaper than cartridge razors.

+1 on the safety razor shaving. I love it. Progress is great, but there are some things that our fathers and grandfathers had that were better than what we have now. This is one of them.

One shave. One blade. Either way. When I was clean shaven it was the same story. Mach 3's or blades. All only lasted one shave.

My father gave me a shaving kit is HS - needless to say I didn't have to shave as much back then. I could muster up a spare goat tee but that's pretty much it.
It came with just a new style razor, brush and soap dish. Kinda bummed I left it all in Ohio when I moved here. I loved the brush.
I can't find shit that works well now aside from wicked high priced Mach whatever and the super cheap razors made in where the fuck ever, suck horribly and leave me with a murder scene in my bathroom.
I never have shaved with a safety razor. I had my Grandfathers - for whatever reason I thought I would cut the hell out of my face with it - so I never used it. That too is in Ohio.
Can you use Safty Razor to manscape? or is that whole another thread? Lol

You might be gay. Or at least a puff.

I went old school about six months ago and my wallet loves it so does my face. One thing I found out the hard way is you have to take your time. A styptic pencil is also handy.

I'm a fairly recent convert to the safety razor. Been a mug/brush guy since I was 18.
I have to say, it was something of a learning curve to shave my head with the safety razor -- looked like I had the pox for a while there -- but I have since gotten the hang and it's MUCH nicer than the Mach 18,568.74 or whaterverthefuck nonsense they're selling.
And a thanks to Mohawk... I am going to order up a box of those blades and save even more $$. Which I'll probably spend on a new brush; 18 years takes its toll on 'em, I tell ya.

I use disposables, but I run them for about 3 months a piece. Must have sissy facial hair. Looks like fun, but I cut myself up enough as it is.

I've tried alot of blades, But the Sharks from Egypt seem to hold an edge really well. Get them From Ebay..Usually with free shipping...You will like them..Last a long time..even with a thick beard...
The soap from Wal Mart is really good quality. Has Shea Butter in it and I don't get Many nicks. Only have to buy 2-3 bars a year..last much longer than the canned stuff...Thicker lather also..
Is It Frigging Gay to be talking about this kinda stuff????
