I recently won a bid for some metal wildlife art, there are two ducks and an elk from an online auction. After opening the package I about shit my pants at the amount of rust on all these items. I did not see any rust on the pics nor in the description prior to bidding.
I called the company 2 weeks ago, talked to an underling that said his boss would call me right back, NOT. I called him back after two weeks, been busy. I figured he would say sorry but there’s nothing I can do about it, I was right. POS!!! I’m so done with online auctions, I guess I was just waiting for a sign and this was it. Rant over. The only place I would put these as distressed as they are is out in the shop but even there I would get a bad taste in my mouth every time I saw them. Maybe try a palm sander and some 220 grit? Looks like mainly surface rust, should cleanup pretty easily. Bead blasting would be another option..
