The Cow....too bad Tomy is gone, i would have gotten her number for him. There's a brother that can appreciate a nice Holstein. Hanging?....May or may not be too good for the defendant. That will be decided by the evidence. I will elaborate when it's all over.

Back in court today...and the plot thickens. On a side note, one of the jurors had their car broken into inside the parking garagewhile we were in court. Talk about balls! Camera's, patrols and all....disconnected his battery to silence the alarm, took apart the dash and even ransacked the trunk!

Personally I have always done my civic duty but I have a friend who refuses to. Whenever he get the summons in the mail he just shreds it. His attitude is that if they want him then the summons better be sent certified mail so they have proof that it wasn't lost in the mail.
Boeing will pay you full wages for jury duty so you don't have to go to work after court!

Heh.
I had jury duty on Monday. I asked if they were gonna instruct jurors on jury nullification.. in front of about 100 people during orientation..
and...waddya know... they had too many jurors and asked if I wanted to go home...

Interesting point Josh. It's unfortunate that the requirements for juror's are that they must deliberate the evidence and deliver a Verdict based on the letter of the law. ...because I got issues with this whole thing already. Sure wish I could ask questions. The game playing is very interesting to watch, I suspect delivering a "just" verdict will be very challenging. ....and I have seen enough fools walking around holding up their pants with one hand and yapping on their phones to last me a Looong time. ...and that's at Kent station, not the courthouse.

That's what the "justice system" is telling jurors... But the Entire purpose of a jury system is rooted in the PEOPLES' right to nullify unjust laws. For any reason. It makes sense if you think about it. The King wants to impose law as he sees fit. He doesn't want the peasants interpreting law, and certainly not to return a verdict of "This Law is Stupid". But the peoples of Britain fought the King and won the right to have jury trials, in which they can and should decide based on the merits of the law as well as the merits of the prosecution. It is The Peoples' Right to nullify ANY law as they see fit, per the basis of the jury system. http://www.apfn.org/pdf/citizen.pdf

That's the beauty of jury nullification. You can conclude, based on evidence, that the person did in fact commit the crime, BUT you can basically find them "not guilty" because the law they broke is an unjust law. http://m.thenewamerican.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thenewamerican.com%2Fusnews%2Fcrime%2Fitem%2F12892-new-hampshire-jury-nullifies-major-felony-marijuana-case#2897Quote: Following the adoption of a new state law on jury nullification in June, a New Hampshire jury nullified its first major felony marijuana case on September 14 when jurors decided to free Doug Darrell, a 59-year-old father of four grown children who was growing illegal plants in his backyard. Activists hailed the decision as a significant victory for the jury nullification movement, which aims to revive awareness about the power inherent in juries to protect citizens from overzealous prosecutors and bad laws by nullifying cases.
Darrell, a Rastafarian piano tuner and woodworker who has been married for almost four decades, was arrested after a National Guard helicopter spotted some marijuana plants on his property in Barnstead. State prosecutors charged him with cultivation, a felony that could have carried up to seven years in prison.

In this case I don't believe the Laws that pertain to be "unjust", just that there may be circumstances that could be considered that can't be if you are required to adjudicate to the letter of the law. ...and then there's just flat "right and wrong", regardless of circumstance.
Anyway, that's it until Monday. We reconvene then.
