Isn't that because once they become a journeyman they are low man on the totem pole and end up on unemployment? The trades pay well once you are a senior person but until then they sucks

You're leaving out the get out what you put in part. The work hard and earn your spot. If you're good and want it you will work and make money.

Hello........... That's not the way it is with a union. They believe in SENIORITY not skill or willingness to bust your ass. Been there, done that which the main reason I got out of the shop at Boeing. I found the young and vigorous quickly learned what the old and lazy said was proprietary in search of a good paying job. Pay for performance but ya gotta consider ability/knowledge. No performance should equal no job!

I fully understand how a union operates. I also know if you can turn a wrench, pull a lever, and shift a Roadranger you won't be out of work for long. You don't need a union to survive, and not all unions protect the lazy.
It depends on what a person desires.

Personally I think the clinics should be sending them home with a party doggie bag which should include a 10 day supply and a bottle of vodka to cure their thirst
