I sincerely *hope* it doesn't end well for him. Stealing U.S. government property just doesn't sit well with me.

Guys a couple of years ago were selling matech rear sights for around 30 bucks on eBay. I figured out they were stolen off the bases all by myself.

I'm going to type out 3 paragraphs and wax eloquently about a similar story in my life. Pm me if you figured it out.

This is not anything new, other than the price. There is military gear for sale all day long on plenty of sites. Check Craigslist, Bookoo, offerup, Waguns, or any "surplus" store in Tillicum. There is military gear of all shapes and sizes. Trust me, the military does not give away all that gear. This idiot was dumb enough to try and sell something that was so expensive it threw red flags.

I've seen EoTechs for sale for $250 that had severe wear on them from that area. My money says stolen military. However I don't think Uncle Sam cares as much about an EoTech as it does a $10,000+ laser

This story confirms what we all said back when I was in the Army. "Just because you're a Sergeant doesn't mean your smart".
Just out of curiosity, how was he able to steal it? Sounds like other's along the line were careless and didn't properly keep track of this "asset". When I served it wasn't unusual for a whole base to be "quarantined" if something like this went missing.
