I just picked this up on Saturday. It's a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. Total miles are at 122k. The car was originally sold in Phoenix. I would like to learn more about it. I know we have a few experts here. I take the car to be detailed tomorrow, then a visit to Automotive Artistry (WaGuns member) in the afternoon for a diagnostics check up and 72 point inspection. Impressions, comments, suggestions all welcomed.

as a great man once said, "Throw some Ds on that bitch!" gold ones possibly. :bonghit:

seriously though, cozy rides. i personally have horrible luck with american made cars over 100k miles but if it was taken care of you should be good. congrats.

Welcome to my club.
2003 LS here. 101,000 as of last week.

First thing I did with mine was to take some contact cleaner and spray down the window & mirror door switches.

Still need to get the drivers door key code.

They run forever. They get 26mpg at 75mph.

The End.

Dang, that's nice low mileage too. Good tip about the switches! I will do that. Thank you.
I was lucky, the original owner's manual and key code card were still in the car. :thumbsup2:

Stuff? You mean like black out windows, brush guard, push bumpers, spot lights, steel rims?

I may go with a CB radio if I can find it, but probably not. Somewhere I have an old SSB model from the 70's that used to really peg the meters. :wink05:

Nice. I have a 05 Crown Victoria CVPI. (I believe they were on the same frame)

Love the panther platform.

Thank you sir.
I had it detailed yesterday and the inside is restored to like new condition, with that new car smell. :thumbsup2:
I discovered that the rear quarter panels had been repainted, meaning that it may have been rear ended. So I took it over to Automotive Artistry for a look over and there is no evidence of an accident mechanically, just some bumps and a scrape. In fact, all it needs is the usual maintenance, air filter (which I did myself while teaching my son), PCV valve, fuel filter, a tranny service and the front shocks replaced. It has new shocks, but the wrong ones, they are too weak. I got to meet Matt (dmchaser on WaGuns), great guy, he fixed the interior door handle for me, gratis. :thumbsup2:
Next step, I will look to see if I can get the service records from the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer in Oly, but at this point I am satisfied with the purchase. Total cost including licensing, tax, detailing, mechanical inspection, etc... was less than $3K.
Oh, one more anecdote, while changing the air filter yesterday we discovered that it was marked with the mileage and date that it was last replaced. From that I was able to confirm that the car has been driven less than 23K miles in the last three years. thumbsup
WINNING!
