Random phone calls

Within the last two or three days, I've been getting some phone calls that only last two/three rings and then they hang up.
They don't leave messages either. All have been 800 numbers. Google is no help with these. Anyone know what it might be? |

I get them every damn day. All I can figure is that it is a computer robo-dialing and hanging up before voicemail picks up. I answered it once and after a 3 second delay I got a solicitor hawking Comcast. When I said I already have Comcast, they apologized and hung up. I called Comcast and the customer service people say they do not use a third party to solicit and confirmed that I am on a no solicit account. If I don't know the number, I don't answer anymore.

The ones I was getting were Hispanic speaking. Still don't know what it was about. I blocked the numbers.

I have been getting all sorts of shit on my cell phone in the last year or so. Some of the calls come from numbers like 0000, and when I pick up they are very clearly from India or somewhere else. My favorite was the Indian-sounding woman from the "compensation department" - okay, sounds legit, sure. Many of them, when you answer, nothing happens, and it disconnects after several seconds.
So much for the federal "do not call" list and DNC laws for cell number blocks. |

The robocalls do that to see if anyone will answer, then sell the lists to marketers to put in their robocall systems. It slims down the number list and higher probability that someone will answer.

These are Robo call that figure out what time is the best time to call you (when you will answer). This info is "sold" as a viable lead which is worth way more than a live phone number. They don't give a shit about the "Do Not Call" list which is why the minute I no longer needed a land line for my alarm I got rid of it!
I went with Consumer Cellular and for $15 a month more than my land line bill, my wife and I both have cells (after the cost of the phone). I didn't miss the political Bull Shit calls last election once! _________________ Banned for calling GOD a racist! Oh that's tight, Seattle guns is DEAD! |

It was a call from an AARP rep., but they must have forgotten why they were calling and hung up.
