Seattle doesn't deserve a NBA team. Here's why: - They didn't support their first one. The money was here, really? How the FRICK did Clay Bennett get them then?
- They act like they are the center of the universe. Have any of the diehard NBA fans looked south about 170 miles to that little podunk called Portland? They look north to Seattle every single day of MLB and NFL season. You know....your "Savior to the Seahawks" Paul Allen's other colleciton of little toy soliders. Support the 'Blazers!
- The city government, ELECTED BY THESE SAME "DIEHARD FANS" stoops to new levels every day it seems to put red tape roadblocks against anything related to basketball, and hockey for that matter. Stop voting for people who think sports are for neanderthals and maybe you'll get a fricking stadium that will bring in a fricking team. But, alas....see bullet point #1.
Sorry....but the whole Seattle whine whine we wanna basketball team thing makes me want to blow chunks.

Sorry....but the whole Seattle whine whine we wanna basketball team thing makes me want to blow chunks. there might still be some real hard feelings about the time the "super"sonics lost to the denver nuggets.

Sorry....but the whole Seattle whine whine we wanna basketball team thing makes me want to blow chunks. You forgot the part about asshat Howard Schultz happily selling to Bennett knowing full well his intentions to move the team. By the way Howard, your scorched coffee sucks.

The Sonics were supported until the team was sold to the Country bumpkin Bennett. Removing alot of television/radio ads, trading good players for future draft picks and basically driving down the interest of the fan base with a shit team was his whole goal the entire time. My family was season ticket holder for almost 15 years, and even in their pre- Payton/Kemp days this team always put butts in the seats. During their finals run in the late 90's, you could find a pair of tickets anywhere that were available for a decent price. This city was basketball drunk. To this day, I haven't had a cup of Starbucks. F**K that guy and his crap ass coffee. My bikini Baristas made better tasting stuff

Howard Schultz is a piece of work, for sure. However, if he was intent on seeing the team stay in Seattle, he could've found local ownership. I was convenient that the lawsuit in 2008 showed Steve Ballmer to be on board with being a buyer.....well, Mr. Shultz, why didn't you approach him first before McClendon, Bennett, and company? Oh, that's right.....because you bought the Sonics not for your love of basketball, but for some Seattle superiority complex making you feel the team would transcend the sports world and become this larger than life liberal fuzzy warm bunch of pooo thing.
Another Seattle egomaniac who didn't get his way and bailed.....just like the "diehard fans" who bandwagon'd----just as Howard hoped and bet on---to get that new arena. But, that backfired when our politicians did the whole "another arena? For 'sports?' What are these 'sports' you speak of, and will they affect my IQ? Oh....alas.....we must not support such an animalistic venture, and instead support bronze fish on the interstate."
Then, the "diehard fans" sulked, pouted, kicked at the ground, whined, cried, and walked away with their lower lip stuck out, thereby guaranteeing the demise. You know what diehard fans do? They sit in shitbox seats in -20 deg weather and watch a 4-12 team, or deal with falling ceiling tiles without overreacting, or sit in a 100 year old baseball stadium to support perennial losers. That's what diehards do. Diehards don't whine "gimme gimme gimme" and then not buy tickets. Idiots, they are.
David Stern had said it time and time again (paraphrased) when Seattle as a CITY shows me they are ready for a team, they will get one. Until then, they won't.
They still aren't, and won't. Seattle doesn't deserve a NBA team.
FWIW....the Rose Garden is a great place to watch NBA ball...if you're so inclined.
