so from what i take from this they held off the "wedding" to make this guy bake them a cake? WTF? who does that shit? Quote: The controversy started in 2012 when a gay couple asked Phillips to make their wedding cake. Phillips politely declined, saying he could not make a cake promoting a same-sex ceremony because of his faith. He offered to make them any other baked item they wanted.

Proving their indignation righteous and forcing their lifestyle on someone else is far more important than getting on with life.

Not the same thing at all. DO NOT take me the wrong way. I don't see why making the cake would matter. I don't see why making the guy make the cake is any better. But there's noone being beat to death in this case either. Seems there are A LOT more important things to worry about in todays world.

Indeed, lots more important stuff to worry about...with that said, the gay community has a long history of mistreatment/abuse and they would like to begin evening the score - any way possible. I suspect they see this as a way to say "fuck you" to that baker and anyone like him - including folks who engage in physical violence. It's a pretty common process in American history. I'm positive they didn't eat the cake.

mash man wrote: Sho you have to ask someone if they are gay before you kick his ass in a bar fight? Of course not - now, if you: A) Pick a fight with someone because they are gay - you're fucked. B) Kick someone's ass and call them gay at any point - you're asking for trouble. With that said - bar fights are a good way to lose your gun rights or more (including your life)...so I don't really recommend them in general. Beyond that, in other states - carrying a gun in a bar is legal...which should also give you pause regarding that sort of behavior. Honestly, I think they went overboard by forcing the guy to make the cake...but he put himself out there without checking on the possible consequences and this was it. Beyond that - I'm supportive of the ruling in general as our society cannot function if we allowing people to refuse to provide particular services to specific groups of people because it contradicts with their religious beliefs...case in point - there's a large Mormon population in the Phoenix area and as doctors, nurses and pharmacists they frequently refuse to provide or fill birth control prescriptions for unmarried women and use their religion as an excuse. They have been called out on it and some of them have reverted to passive aggressively dragging their feet while claiming "insurance problems." Most of us have to make compromises with our jobs, family and personal beliefs - that's life. It seems these folks learned their lesson, given that the article said they have stopped making wedding cakes for everyone.
