But don't worry, they're voluntary. (uh huh) Because nothing says "this is optional" like a uniformed, on-duty LEO watching over you. I'll see if I can dig out the story where this same program was rolled out in Texas and several motorists demonstrated it was far from voluntary. Link to story on KING5 here -- http://www.king5.com/news/local/voluntary-swab-test-drugs-alcohol-drivers-261969751.htmlEdited to add: Here's the story on what happened in Dallas -- http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/North-Texas-Drivers-Stopped-at-Roadblock-Asked-for-Saliva-Blood-232438621.html Drivers funneled off the road, compliance seemed like the only way out to at least one person.

Yeah, it fits right in.

I am free because I say I am. My freedom is not dependent on any government benefit or piece of legislation. My rights are inherent in the fact that I was born a sovereign being. They are non-negotiable. The government can list them and protect them, but my rights are not theirs to give away.

"A police officer will be at each research station and prepared to make DUI arrests"
Sound like they contradict themselves at the end of the article....

Hmmm. Maybe I don't see these "Checkpoints" as all that sinister.
I've been through them in several States. Went through the "screening" lane where an officer merely greeted me long enough to smell for alcohol Never got shunted off to the "extra attention" lanes, even when I was "carrying". Never asked for my ID or CPL.
The checkpoints I encountered were clearly for the purpose of "smelling the air".
Having had a leg partially amputated earlier in my life by a drunk driver I'm not so sure that this isn't a good idea. I support one's rights but I don't believe that putting other's lives at risk by abusing alcohol is a "guaranteed right".

VanDyk says the survey is strictly voluntary, and if a driver is impaired, researchers are trained to offer that person safe options home.

a) impaired drivers might not be dumb enough to pull into them, sample will be skewed
b) they're paying $60 a pop, I plan to drive in for it 10 times.

As we have heavily reported in the last few weeks, numerous government agencies have went on an ammo buying spree, with the total amount reaching well over 700 million rounds.
“In the last three years numerous domestic US government agencies have ordered a total of over 750 million rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.
That’s right, multiple government agencies that specifically operate primary inside the United States have gone on a literal ammunition spending spree in preparation for what they must believe will be some sort of violent event.”
Whether it be 140 million packets of emergency food, detention centers in all 50 states,750 million rounds of ammo, or numerous bullet resistant checkpoint booths, the Department of Homeland Security is clearly gearing up for something. Please Spread The Word And Share This Post
