It isn't optional. I never minded "blowing in the bag" (or later the pipe/BAC meter). The typical stop was typically less than 3 or 4 minutes, and a lot of times they'd ask me if I'd been drinking, and let me go without taking a BAC reading if I said "no" and didn't smell of booze, those stops would take all of a minute.
So, it probably comes as no surprise that I am fine with it.
Not sure about a swab though - although I guess my DNA is on file in enough places already. "Think of the children..." You opened yourself up for that. I have no doubt that it reduced DUI, and if they set up shop at the bar then I would say there is probably suspicion. But random DUI check points fall outside RAS in my opinion. You say "If it saves one life it is worth it." while I say "Do not violate our rights afforded by the constitution for the actions of a few criminals." I never said the 4th amendment should be repealed, and Australian laws are different. Like I said, I had no issue with it there. Do I think it should be implemented here... meh. Also, there's less need for it here because American beer is like making love in a canoe - its fucking close to water.

This is great, if I need a cab ride to the airport or just was to stay in a hotel for free......the WSP is so nice. I won't stop voluntarily. Period, dot.

I'm really not against the research being done, especially because I believe drug legalization is a good thing and want WA's success studied. But yea the whole cop standing there ready to arrest people does bother me. I may be making some road trips while they are doing this to get some extra cash though.

Just curious... Spent a few quality hours in the Dunsmuir pass station with one of Californias finest. Tag on my fire extinguisher was one (1) day expired. Finally found the FMCSA reg that clearly states that you have to have one but nowhere does it mention the tag or anything remotely related. No ticket. But if you drive away they will treat you as an escaped fellon. It;s a LONG walk to anywhere. Yruck scales are "guilty till you prove your innocence". FYI: Ca; didnt have a maximum fine for log book violations so the judge could pick about and amount at will. 2004 the law was amended to a maximum fine of $35,000.00. You can also get ticketed fir 56 in a 55 zone. More reasons I will never return. Lived there 26 years.

Just curious... CDL "A" with doubles, triples. Hazmat and Tanker. The weigh station is not even close to what this is about Dan. Not quite the same thing at all. ..and you don't mess around with the weigh station Trooper's.

If a government hack forces me to stop moving, involuntarily, for one ****ing second i'm being detained. I'm not consenting to shit.
Will this help catch criminals? Sure. So did Gestapo and communist dictatorship police tactics. Do I want to live under that kind of bs? Hell no. LEO effectiveness is the worst excuse for tyranny EVER. You know who has low crime? North Korea. No thanks!

Out of everything said in this thread i take the most offense to thus ignorant statement. You realize this is Washington state right? Pretty much the micro brewery state...... i don't sat to many positive things about thus state but the beer is better than anything i had in Australia
